Folks,

I'm having some MAJOR stress trying to get a decent quote on a jap import TT.

For a 27 year old, with 3 years NCB, 1 theft claim, I'm being quoted almost a grand on the dot....and this is for TPF&T!

Can anyone point me to someone who won't commit day time, legal robbery, and instead will give me a reasonable quote???

Andy D, why oh why did you decide to put your car up for grabs. It's causing me nothing but stress and sleepless nights!

One of the lads here has just tried http://www.confused.com for a quote for his imported Mk2 MR2 Turbo. You give them all your details and they then mail you back the top ten best deals. Gotta be worth a try.

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

If you're over 25 (or is it 30? not sure!) try http://www.lifesure.com They definitely want import business at the moment.

Tesco are also useful as they don't discriminate between UK/import.

I tried Livingstones but they couldn't compete, which was a shame because that was one of the main reasons I joined the Z Club.

Livingstones are not involved with the Z Club in any way except as an advertiser in the clubs magazine, I hope no one in the club advised you that by being a member you would get cheaper insurance.

The only benifit insurance wise would be the use of the club's valuation service to help you get a ageed value insurance for your Z

Ok, I've tried a few online insurance co's and I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

Boy, I feel sorry for those poor folk who have to sit in some office day in day out asking all those repertitive q's... especially those even poor people who have to verbally quote the law before progressing with the quote. Thats why I'm always ultra nice to these people.

I got fed up just having to go through a few websites clicking in all those millions of box's. But what has to be done has to be done. Just hope I get good results cuz I told meself yesterday if I don't I'm gonna quit looking for a zed :-(

BUT A MASSIVE MASSIVE THANKS TO EVERY SINGLE ONE ON THIS SITE :-D

Would you be able to post a list of the insurance companies you have tried please?

I think it would be useful for other members to see what quotes you got and from which companies for future reference.

Ta,

Trey,

I don't mind listing all the co's I tried...but I'd say that 99% of them were all useless. Would it be useful to post these too?

The best quotes I got on a standard Jap import were in the region of £1k - £2,500. And these were for TPF&T!

I'll post the cheapest co's on here tomorrow cuz I've left the paper work in the office.

I'm also awaiting some online co's to get back to me, so I'll post them too.

Alps,

I've been told the same thing. The N. London postcode basically is 100% loaded as one guy told me - we get full price.............great!!

Vijay

I've gotta move my rear outta London.

I never ever thought I'd say what I'm about to say...but I actually hate livin in London now (not only cuz of not being able to get reasonable insurance quotes! :-))

nah, I love where I live but it does bug the crap out of me when they just decide you live in a rough area when in 20 odd years I havn't seen or heard of any "major" trouble.............................

I wish you luck mate.................

Vijay

Ok, here are some of the cheapest quotes I got on Jap import 300zx TT (non modified) for a 27 year old, 3 years NCB, 1 theft of car, and North London postcode:

TPF&T

£971 - Admiral (£670 for UK car)

£997 - Xpress Insurance group (£835 for UK car)

£1300 - Gibson Direct

Fully Comp

£1507 - IYM.com

£1533 - AA

£1596 - NU Direct

Oh, and Tesco's quoted me £2100 (FC)!

I don't know if this helps anyone due to everyones details being so considerably different.

There were sooooo many other co's I also tried - so many so that I've actualy forgotten who I've called and who I haven't... But majority of them were either extortionate, or plain and simple didn't touch Jap imports!

I remember one company quoting me £7500 last year LOL

Would you like to go ahead with the policy sir? LMFAO

Sorry but someone beat your price by £6800 I said LOL

A-Plan were the best for me at £850 ish FC on an import, full bodykit, big wheels, lots of mods declared, speeding points etc

Tel: 0845 0711234 Very helpful and knowledgeable too

But then I do live in an "Emmerdale farm postcode" as PaulG said the other day LMFAO :D

...and I thought I'd been getting silly quotes!!!

PS I've been looking at this site for a little while now, but I still don't know what all those letters mean (LMFAO etc etc) Any chance someone can enlighten me please...

For now I'm gonna go away and give that number a call.

That number above is for their specialist vehicle section ONLY for imports which is nice to know that UK Z's get turned away for once! :D

They have another number for normal cars etc.

I couldn't find my insurance certificate yesterday to get my tax so called them and they got my details in seconds without needing to mess me about with policy numbers etc.

Copy of the certificate arrived this morning.

Every time I've dealt with them they have sorted things out quickly and easily.

Got to be a first for me insurance wise.

This company actually specialise in performance cars and jap imports

I got a good deal with them

UK spec J reg 300zx tt

I've had a 1 fault accident 1 no fault accident

36 female driving 3 years Warwick

2 yrs NCB

They were very helpful when i had my crash

£800 Fully Comp also got breakdown insurance with them

All the others over a grand

I got quoted 1800 (that was the worst one)

the women only insurers wouldn't touch me with a bargepole, as my car was too fast and powerful

[http://www.policyshop-insurance.co.uk/cgi-bin/PolicyShop.storefront

I have always used Privilege ( http://www.privilege.com ). My rates for my import NA have varied from ~£800 at 23 living in a neighborhood with a high theft rate outside cambridge to ~£950 at 25 living in SW1 central London for fully comp while driving on a US license. I have always had my wife listed as a second driver and she is a year younger than I am.

You should be lower risk than me (young + foriegn license) perhaps you should give them a call.

I went through all this pain a couple of months ago when I got my import Z.

The cheapest quote I got was with AON at £478 (admittedly not with a London post code)

It's a 'classic' cover so limits the mileage and I had to have a Cat 1 alarm - but unlike Tesco etc, no Tracker required.

we could do with an online dictionary for these:

LOL = laughing out loud

LMAO = laughing my ass off

LMFAO = oh, you work it out!!

IMO = in my opinion

FFS = for f*cks sake

ROFLMAO = rolling on floor laughing.....etc

FWIW= for what its worth

HTH = hope this helps

STAMN = stop talking about mass nelson ;)

Top man Paul. Cheers for that.

Now I can actually understand some postings and not just pretend that I do!
