Hi can anyone tell me if a digital dash cluster can be fitted in place of a normal dash cluster and would it be a simple unplug and plug in or would it need other electronics fitted

Thanks

Richard

Yes I saw the clusters on the Zcentre website but out of my price range at moment but I have seen digital dash for 300zx for sale from a breakers which was a OE fitted part

Only the Z31 had a digital dash and it wasn't for all model years. Actually, the 280zx turbo had one too. If you look at late 80s top spec Maximas, they also had a digital dash. Unfortunately I think these were only available on US models and as such have a really low Max speed. This would be the closest thing you'd get to 'plug and play'.

I do like digital dashes in principle, but the ones you could fit to a Z32 from the Nissan family would make the interior look like this:

Your only other option would be to look at using a 6-cylinder Lexus one from an old SC or something. I have no idea what the signal imputs are converted to, but if you understand the schematics, then I am sure you could fit one - but again, it looks really 80s....but better than the Z31 dash.

Looks like I will have to save up for the drift cluster from the Zcentre it costs 480.00 but it looks brilliant

A coulple extra things you can do with digital dash. Set service intervals. Adjust speed for all tyre sizes. 0-60 mph time. Check your highest rpm. Set shift light . Some other stuff i can't remember :) the other good thing it's on obstructed by the steering wheel. So you see your speed :)
