Well bad news just been told the zed I have bought has a low compression on cylinder 6 when cold 75psi then builds up when warm, wonder if this is the noise Iam on about as well:( seems to pull ok but give it any right foot really. Bet a engine rebuild won't be cheap :( bugger bugger

Sorry to hear that mate hope you can get sorted soon. There would be good advice and help on here.

Sorry to hear it, I lost a zed to cylinder 6 before, not good.

Maybe someone has a second hand engine for sale, as a cheaper alternative. There's plenty of us who 've had engines out so plenty of advice and knowledge on here

Sorry to here that mate I was stung like u with bad compression on a few cylinders after buying my zed (oh and the turbos went as well and a bad gearbox hopefully that don't happen to you ) all In for a good rebuild your looking at 3.5k in parts and labour and machining(a lil bit more if u go forged) would be what your looking at but if u go down that route your properly get the power bug and want to get upgraded turbos and so on. But as said by another member will be a lot cheaper dropping in a second hand engine but a good one is hard to find hence why most off us go down the rebuild route

£3.5 k in parts and Labour? depends whether your doing it yourself or need the hired help, even then this is top end money for a stock build. If its the one cylinder it could be the rings or tappets if its down on pressure. Get a leak down test on it, you should find more about what's going on that way before fretting over build costs.

If you're considering selling, I would be very interested. I LOVE the colour and the look of the car.

If you're keeping it, speak to Jimmer @ PowerZed if you're going for an engine rebuild. A known working replacement engine is a good alternative as well.

Think thats what iam going to do lads get a cheap bare tt engine amd rebuild it for when mine goes pop

Howuch am I looking at for a bare tt engine?

Cheers mark

If your going to rebuild it the condition is not so important as long as its not cracked! You could be looking at a couple of hundred or £500 + for one ready to drop in... I have a good spare but might need a bit of valve sealing on 1 and 3 and that's going for around £300

Thanks for the info steve your abit far away from me. Will have to see which way iam going but probs best freshing any engine I buy lol.

Most unfortunate pal the car did move quite quickly I dont think the previous owner had it long

Worth further investigation before getting too disheartened. It doesn't always mean catastrophic engine failure, could be a duff valve etc. It's probably not but it could be. I'm in the same boat myself cyl 4 has a similar number to yours amongst other issues lol.

Seems to drive ok for low compression on pot 6 lol might last long enough, hence getting another before it pops lol

Did you have smoking turbos caused by excessive crank case pressure by any chance?

To be fair matey only had the car 3 days not had chance to give it a good run due to work, so not got it fully warmed up so just white smoke coming out the back looks like condensation due to cold weather to me at the moment mate. starts up first click as well:)

Sorry I was referring to Josh's comment.

I had smoking turbos, the cause I was unsure of but the engine wasn't the healthiest water damage on #5 bore, overall it looked like a monkey had worked on it

Hi mark no it all went down to jim as was so he could see the problem for himself, he is very well priced I can't really give you a true representation of what you'll pay as I have went above and beyond the best bet is to catch jimmer on facebook, one thing for sure is you can rest easy knowing jims on the job.
