Ten of the Best (TOTB), is a performance road car event run by Straightliners Ltd, aimed at finding the best all round car and drivers in Europe. Handling, top speed and a 1/4m drag strip are used to determine the best of the best, Ten Of The Best!

All cars that compete in our main road competition class are road legal, taxed, tested and insured. There is also a new "pro-drag class" for the ultimate drag specific cars. Many of the cars that compete at TOTB are modified, some to the extreme. Many of the entrants have built and modified their own vehicles, while others represent the cream of the crop from the Tuners and Garages that specialise in the types of cars entered to compete.

Points are awarded in each of the three events overall, making it extremely difficult to score points in all events, unless the car and driver are on top form!

The Pro-Drag class will have its own shootout final and trophy, with regular head to head runs during the event.

Individual classes are also used to determine class trophies:

FWD (front wheel drive)

RWD (rear wheel drive)

4WD (four wheel drive)

The teams who take part are also battling it out for the TOTB team Trophy, a highly contested piece of silverware.

Ten of the Best brings together modern high tech and high spec cars, along with high power retro classics, giving all a chance to show their prowess on the day. Entrants come from most of the UK and European car clubs and groups, along with individual entries and invited Tuner cars.

Ten of the Best (TOTB), is a performance road car event run by Straightliners Ltd, aimed at finding the best all round car and drivers in Europe.

Under 16s go free (when accompanied by an adult!)

Costs:

Weekend spectator ticket: £25 (Deadline 19/07/15)

Weekend camping and Spectator ticket: £35 (Deadline 19/07/15)

Saturday spectator ticket: £10 (Deadline 19/07/15)

Saturday Boot Camp event entry: £75 (Deadline 22/07/15) Capacity at time of writing: 80

Sunday spectator ticket: £15 (Deadline 19/07/15)

MAIN EVENT ENTRY: £100 (Deadline 22/07/15) Capacity at time of writing: 118

I will be there as always, hopefully making it on Friday night as opposed to Sunday afternoon after zero sleep like last year :headvswal

Is there going to be a team effort again? I haven't sniffed around any other forums yet so unsure of what the competition is looking like.

Did you go for the CZP turbos in the end?

I did and the workmanship on the billet wheels is outstanding i was very pleased with the whole package

Short notice but it's The Fast Show at Santa Pod this weekend. I'll probably be heading down in the Zed. Not been for a couple years but it's usually busy, so not ideal for dialling your car in, really.

Well, it was far too busy on Sunday to run!

So, Saturday 28th is a regular RWYB. This will be a much better proposition for a shakedown session. My setup will be changing quite drastically before TOTB if all goes to plan, but I'm interested to see what I can get out of the car as it stands. Anyone able to make this?

Just to whet people's appetite, below are the results from last year. I didn't get chance to run the handling event, I only managed to get there at 12pm. Not too shabby for a bone-stock VG running on a fresh map created between Leicester & York in the morning, although I actually managed to go 0.1s slower than when it was an auto on stock turbos! :wack:

Forgot I come that high on the handling coarse. It's amazing what you get on the drag strip with a stock motor noz. Fair play. It's still my favorite event of the year this. Everyone should try it. You'll be hooked.

Just found this from 2013:

Did you run at all? The weather forecast was mainly rain for Pod and it was pretty grim in Leicester, so I gave it a miss :(

Bought a new helmet for this season though!

Hiya Noel, rained on and off but managed to get 4 runs in best run was 13.17 cold track.Got a crash helmet too £40 from the pod shop bargain I thought.

13.17s is good in those conditions! Nice one :)

My car is at PowerZed HQ for the next round of upgrades, so no racing for me (not in the Zed, at any rate).

Well I will still be going to ten of the best but Eurospec are fielding a team so I have to join them this year.

I am still using my old engine so am not expecting anything special but the car was virtually undriveable for most of last year so I am focussing on making it work better. My new engine will be ready end July and I'm hoping by then I will have got the rest of the car working and can start to go fast. All the work we did last year was well worth it but the car was like a bucking bronco and it was impossible to drive. It was a lot of fun of course but I want to start getting quicker and making all the hard work worthwhile. I will do all three events engine permitting but I am going to concentrate on the handling this year.

Hope 300ZX still have a good team. What with all the high power numbers I hear being bandied about I suspect I would be one of the slower ones :)

Hahaha!

Bob & Jaffa's are the big builds. My car never really goes to plan but I am trying my hardest this year to be competitive. And on time!

  • 2 weeks later...

TOTB is fast approaching and its time to start pulling together who will be on the club stand too.

I already have Bird and Tmogsy as takers so who else wants to park their zed on our stand.

Crack is you will pay your usual £10 entry fee, (if you only attend sunday), and instead of parking in the public car park you will be allowed down the pit lane to the area by the handling course to park with the other clubs. So you are right in the thick of all the action.

The 300zx team will no doubt be on pit lane like last year.

So the list for the club stand is

1. Bird

2. Tmogsy

3. PaulZX
