At some point in my zed's life somone has gone to town on the stereo wiring. DSC_1527.jpg

To my amazement this actually works!!

Anyway I was looking at the rear speakers and found this plug under both of them. DSC_1680.jpg

Now i thought they might by oe speaker wires but there are four conecters in each plug??

Can anyone shed some light on what they are??

Regards Lee

They are the OEM speaker connectors, the original speakers had individual amplifiers.

Hmm thanks,

So i guess my best bet is to ignore them as the JBL's that are there are working.

Cheers :-)

I'm a bit late to this party, I know... but that audio wiring's shocking!!

When I bought this car, it was advertised as having had "a professional, fully upgraded audio install" - you could imagine my surprise when I saw the car in person and found that the new front speaker wires weren't running through the sheath between door and bodywork, but instead were simply trapped by the door when it was shut!

Only one speaker worked at the time of purchase too. Once I got her home, I pulled the head unit to see if I could find out why and promptly shat myself at the state of the "professional wiring" behind it!!

I managed to get all four speakers working eventually, but it was a struggle. I did away with the "upgraded" wiring for the fronts and just used the stock loom.

But yeah, "professional install"... seriously....

We'll have a chat about wiring today Si. You should see the state of my Zed!

I've managed to tidy up much of it, but it's still not great. Gaffer tape and scotch locks everywhere.

Hey Si,

Yeah it looks like they bought the right iso adapter fitted it then chopped it up :-S Still not got the front speakers working tho i haven't had much time on it yet.

Professional install, my arse!

The bit that upset me the most was that someone had cut the dash internals out where the stereo brackets bolt to, so I had to stick with a rubbish cage which never quite held the head units properly :(

I'd be tempted to either tear it all out and start again, or try and revert everything back to the stock wiring, mate.

Wow! What an ungodly mess! LOL. Tidy that up pronto! Good wiring isn't actually that hard to do and the cost of a soldering iron, heatshrink, flux and solder won't break the bank! I am no pro, but this was my attempt! :)
