Some of you may remember that my missus, Fran, did the Race For Life earlier this year. She did incredibly well considering the last time she'd have ran a distance of anywhere near 5k would've been when she was at school!

Anyhoo, her and her younger sister are doing another 5k run next Sunday (in the freezing North East weather, no less!) and they're raising money for Stray Aid, which is a charity local to us that takes in, looks after, reunites and rehomes stray dogs. I actually rescued a Collie pup a couple of years ago and took him there, and they took superb care of him until his owners (whose details they found from his chip) were able to come and collect him.

I know Christmas is looming and everyone's probably spent up buying crap TVs in Tesco yesterday  but if anyone can spare even a £1 to sponsor Fran and Catherine, it'd be hugely appreciated and, of course, will go towards helping to care for stray and lost dogs.

The JustGiving page can be found here should anyone wish to help.

Thanks! :)

Ah... dogging requires a very different type of donation, mate... ;)

Great cause Si we have two rescue dogs :thumbup1:

So do we, Gary:

Rocco's on the left - he was a terrified little thing when we got him in June, but he's really coming out of his shell now.

And Marley's on the right - he was about three times this size when we got him last year and he's just a proper big softie!!

They look good together.

I love to see animals go to a good home.

Over the years I too have taken on rescue dogs and cats.

You can feel the gratitude from them.

Honestly, these two are just pure love... case in point: Rocco's had a bit of an eye infection recently and Marley will lick his eyes clean when he notices they're weeping...

They're both from Dogs Trust and Rocco especially seems to have had a grim backstory - he came over from Ireland and they think he spent his life outside with no form of socialisation at all. He was scared of everyone and everything when we got him! But, as I said, he's coming right out of his shell now and he absolutely adores Fran.

Marley was handed in to the local council cos his last owner couldn't look after him, so his story's not as bleak. But he still deserves a home where he'll be loved and happy, so that's why he lives with us in the countryside!

It's just nice to be able to make a difference for them :)
