looking at new rims that are the following size. Front 18x8.5 ET40 & Rear 18x9.5 ET45 (5x114.3)

I want to know what size spacers I need to improve the stance a little. I am thinking 10mm front and 5mm rear.

Also recommendations for the make of spacer please.

Are your arch lips rolled Andy? If so, you could get down to a +30, or even a +25 on the rear based on a width of 9.5" with a tyre spec of around a 275 30 profile. I'd say go for a 15mm hubcentric bolt-on for the rear. Try to avoid having longer studs, the bolt-on spacers are stronger and easier to fit.

As for your fronts, you could get a 20mm spacer on that pushing it out to a +20, running a 235 or 245 35 profile.

On that basis, I'd recommend either Eibach or H&R spacers which are the market leaders. You'll probably need to look for 350z fitment as 300zx fitment is limited. Essentially they have the same PCD and centre bore, so they fit correctly. Make sure your wheels have the correct spigot rings in also.

...these are the Eibach versions, but make sure they're the bolt-n spacers, not the ones for extended wheel studs, the information is a little spurious http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-3-5-4-06-EIBACH-15mm-PRO-KIT-WHEEL-SPACERS-KIT-S90-6-15-026-/190974990121?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyre_Trims_Trims_ET&hash=item2c76ff1729

Cheers Si, Arches are standard. I have 235 front and 265 rears currently with +32 front and +38 rear if memory serves me correctly and looks like this so I figure there is a little room to play with:

What widths are your current wheels Andy? You could get a little more out of your current ones for sure! I'd like to think you could almost squeeze another 10mm.

What I did with my rears as I felt I could get a little more out of them was to buy a dirt cheap set of universal spacers (4 x 5mm) and fit them all to one side to see how it looked, then when I knew, I'd buy the correct bolt-on hubcentric spacers. I managed to get mine totally flush and there's no rubbing at all. My rears are 9.5" wide @ +25 effective running a 275 30 19 tyre, my arch lip is lightly rolled at the very top, but nothing else. I want to get a 285 on it when these ones need replacing.

Here's an old photo (car looks a little different here), but the stance is the same.

Looking at yours seems there is quite a bit of room for me to play with. I have 8.5 front and 9.5 rear currently. Good idea with the cheap spacers, will give that a go but seems like I could away with 20mm front and 15mm rear to run +20 on front and +25 rear.

The max you can push an 8.5" on the front is about a +20 effective, the rear at 9.5" with stock arches is about a +30/+40 effective. If you lightly roll the very top of the arch lip, you can get a +25/+30 effective on a 9.5" wheel.

Also bear in mind tyre profiles and widths. Imagine that with your 265s at the rear, it might be a bit more forgiving than with wider tyres.

Nope, no change to the camber since I had it set when the suspension was fitted about 7 years ago. I should really get the alignment done again, but the suspension is going to have some mild surgery in the new year, so I'll probably get it done then.

Camber is quite close to factory. I don't really like visable negtive camber, just in the same way as I don't like stretched tyres.
