Hi Everyone, I'm afraid I am a new kid on the block and need some help and advice.

I have bought an unregistered imported twin turbo which needs sorting for an mot and uk regulations before I can use it. Does anyone know of a firm who specialises in zeds in the south, who could sort it out.I live near Portsmouth, and prepared to travel within reason. Local Nissan don't want to know.My car is a October 1991 manual, done 40,000 miles and cost me £2500. They come cheaper than that at Southampton docks. They have 2 auctions a week of imported cars. On average 10 zeds a week are sold never more than £2800, but unregistered.

My car is not perfect of course, a section of exhaust needs attention, and the boot area is a bit tatty, but I'm not complaining, I expected to spend a few bob bringing it up to scratch.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Stuart

Hi there I bought a TT from the docks but through a chap I know. Hmm he must have made a good 2K out of me. Doubt!!!!!

Anyway got it unregistered.

All I needed to do to get it registered was the following.

Get an MOT.

To do this you need a fog light. I really did bodge mine like the wires hanging out the boot taking the power from the radio!!!!

And also the front dipped lights and indicators need to swapped around. E.G. The dips were orange and the indicators were clear. This can be bodged as well. Just simply take the lenses out and swap the bulbs about. They don't fit in the wholes but a bit of tape and a bodge is born. Obviously it can all be rewired at a later stage which is a peace of pi**.

This got me through the MOT.

Then off to the DVLA with insurance doc, MOT doc, all docs from the DOCS at Southampton. Proof of sale, import tax etc. You hand over approx 120 big ones which includes 6 month tax and wola you get log book a week later with tax disk. They even help you feel out the relevant form when your there.

And as the car is over 10 years old you don't need a SVA test and if you don't get caught you can run it on a KPH Speedo.

Hope this helps.....

Stuart,

Travel up the M3 for about 30 mins and take it to my mechanic,Mark, who specialises in imported Japanese cars.

I highly recommend him and he will definately be able to sort you out.

Ring him on 07768 196825 or 01276 670628 or look at;

I suggest Protech Ltd. in Nailsea nr. Bristol.

Try http://www.protech-uk.co.uk or phone 01275 859955.

They do speedo conversions, de-limit, reset cruise, Fog light conversions etc. and of course all Tech. work.

They also do SVA's so now whats needed to get through MOT and can do all that.

wellcome to the madhouse

:p

Try SVA UK ltd

They are in the docks at Southampton...number is 02380335120

Chris

You could always try Nissan at Winchester...01962 810100...ask for Dan in service. My car goes there all the time and they are top blokes...bit pricey but they do a Pukka job.

Chris

wesmi01, you really sound like you know what you are doing. No wonder there are some bad Zeds around. Shame on you.

It's a bodge, it allows this chap to get the car registered ASAP.

And also gives him an idea of what is involved in getting the car UK legal, so he dosent get ripped of.

Yes i bodged intially but then i went back and did a proper job!!!!!!
