hi good people been at work on the 300 today. i had a p/steering leak it turns out that it is a metal pipe that runs from one side to the other. i cannot see where it starts or ends an the tie bar mount is in the way but i can see the leak. what does this pipe do and its name so i can order a new one and is it radiator out job as from what i can see its quite involved.

qestion 2 my power windows have failed, ive checked the fuse in the engine bay and it is ok. but ive got no power to the door. ive managed to get the window up by putting power to the motor. anyone got any thought.

thanks guys.

ok the Normal pipe to start leaking is the High Pressure one that comes from the top of the pump around the back of it . and then goes to a Joint right in front of the main front subframe

i can supply a reconditioned one Delivered for £95

your Electric windows now working will be Dry joints in the window amplifier that sits behind the drivers door card ( little black bod )

check it out if u can not sort the dry joints i have one for £15 delivered

yeah sounds like the pipe im talking about .. " cross member " is the front Black subframe that the engine sits on

on the window side your gonna have to check the Fuse box for corrosion on the relays and contact then

hang on ... it may be the return Cooler pipe if its the one sitting right behind the main oil cooler on the chassis ... that may be a little harder to replace ... u defo sure its leaking there ?

Check out the power steering pipe layout in the diagram below and identify which one it is, if it is the high pressure house (marked in red ) then remove and take to a hydraulics repair agent in your area should be around the £35 mark, if however it is the return pipe then still go to a hydraulics repair agent and get some high pressure rubber pipe and cut out the metal and replace with flexible hose is so much easier but use good wide banded clips, and the window module is easy to fix see the link further down for that.

arfter a chat with a good friend of mine and describing the symtoms it would appear that its one of the 2 hicas pipes that are leaking. so do i do a hicas delete. and get rid if these hoses.

You really need to identify the actual leaking pipe before any advise can be given really, the high pressure pipe ( marked in red) has a foam sleave over it where its curves under, when they fail they leak under the foam, pull the foam back ans see if any red fluid runs out, changing that particular pipe is tricky if you not used to working on zeds/cars and would be prepared to get a bit messy!
