Hi Guys, I have a small hole in the bottom sill about 3/4 " dia, one each side, just behind the front wheel arch, now I planned to weld these up in Sept, but with one thing and another.... well you know the usual story. So my next plan in to have a look at them in the new year, but what can I do to them to prevent further water ingress, I have got some waxoyl to spray inside and then thought of putting some plate/sheet metal over it using pop rivs with gunge under to seal. Question is, is this ok or is there a more accepted way .

Regards

I would'nt bother with the wax oil, it will make it a mare when you do weld it up, pop rivet the plate on with some sealer will stop any more moisture getting in.

Andrew, they are not factory made holes, rather made from rust... pointing down....

What pics ? :whistling:

How far beyond the holes does the rusted metal extend? Assuming your are still going cut back to

good metal and replace with welded in new sections in the Spring, then you could as a temporary

measure cover with galvanised sheet metal and pop rivet in place. Then apply waxoyl/dinitrol type

products to seal and protect over winter.

Havent yet established the extent of the rust but your method seems to tie in with my thoughts so thanks, i'll look at my options.
