Help on my choose!!!

Hi guys.

I´m new on the forum but expect to be a new member soon.

I question is related to my next car. I sold my old Nissan 200SX 1990 s13, and try for the last 3 month to find a good 200SX s14, but only saw one. I live in Portugal and here 200SX are much rare than 300ZX.

The last week a friend of mine tell me "why you don´t buy a 1991 300ZX TT?", at the moment I think that is a very expensive car for me, but after do some search, I found some 91 and 92 TwinTurbos, for almost the same price of a 200SX and some with same kms.

Now my question: What do you think about ZX´s. I now everybody tell his car is the best, but try to be impartial. How about the running cost, "fuel economy", most common faults and problems, what I need to check and take care, etc.

I like very much 300ZX but has fear about 3.0 engine, I think running cos its high and fuel goes like water, but need advice in all the other things.

Thanks for your help and take care of your cars, you´re lucky guys ;)

and go for the zed.. nothing like it and im not saying

it because i own one .... as the good book says

zed first everything else secondary..

...power to all zed owners....

i thought the same way b4 i got a zed about a month ago,

then thought what the hell u only live once, do it man but make sure its a nice one cos a bad one WILL be expensive to sort out,

its worth paying a couple bucks more for a nice one than spending shed loads on a bad one

Sidney,

As Darkman and Beermonster have just said-go get a Z!

I've had one for a couple of months and I love it,more than any other car I've owned in the past(and that's been a few).

You've started with a 200,now get it's big brother.

Seriously, cost wise,as previously stated make sure you get a good one and your costs will be not far off what you've paid to maintain your 200.

Fuel works out about 25mpg for normal driving and for an idea of parts prices try Courtesy Nissan in the USA.

Best of luck in finding a good Z.

Cheers,

F.T.

I started off with the 200sx they are fun to drive although the turbo is a bit rough

I then got a 300zx, oooohh the different it is so smooth and it just feels safer.(especially in the wet, the 200sx did like to lose the backend in the wet sometimes)

The 300zx is more robust it has more features (like leather seats airconditioning, plus lots I don't know about... boys you fill in the blanks

the 200sx is a bit basic, though I do hanker for those pop up lights sometimes.

Go on you want to!!!

I know that 200SX s13 is a bit basic car and very insecure in wet. After sold it, I thinks about the s14, that is very different in desing line, SR20DET engine, leather seats airconditioning, and all the other extras like LSD, ABS, Airbag, etc, but my problem is don´t find one. But oposite to this, the 300ZX is more common, (not much) than the 200SX. I hear some guys tell the engine is a pain to work, very expensive running cost and parts, insurance, fuel in mpg is very low.... drink more gas than I drink beers ;)

I know your feeling. 300ZX is a very beauty machine, respect power..... well, a dream car in my opinion, but all my doubts are about that I don´t want to buy the car and in any moment need to let it in home because any part or running cost get me mad.

But despite this, what do you think I need to check in all 300ZX I could see? what are the most common faults or problems that I need to check, for example: 200SX 1.8 CA18DET is very common fault that the engine get low compression, BIG ENDS break, etc.

In 300ZX, What to look for?

Next weekend I go to see one, 1991 model, 80000kms on clock. At the moment it´s all I know about the car...... advices?

Thanks to everybody and welcome to more replies :)

Sidney

Look for;

Noisey Transmission/ running gear, propshart, driveshafts etc and if its an auto check for nice clean atf.

You can tell i bought a bad'un once (not my present Z may I add).

All the usual stuff when buying a car,but be more thorough.

The most important is that the car has been regularly maintained and has a good service history.

If not(import) then find a good mechanic and give it an extensive examination.

Cheers and good luck,

F.T.
