Ok the time has come when i need to do something about my car situation.

 

Some of you know some git pranged into her the other week and she is looking a mess again. I have problems with the gearbox (manual) which needs a re-build and all the suspension (shocks, springs and bushes) all need replacing. Beside these jobs there is really nothing else to moan about and she sounds as sweet as a nut.

 

The car is a J-spec 1989 swb TT with just over 65k

Had a full 60k service,

HKS Induction Kit,

AP Racing Paddle Clutch,

Razo Turbo Timer,

Kenwood ICE,

Clear Side Repeaters,

99 OEM Front Bumper,

Boost Upgrade to 13 PSI,

Custom Built Pipes,

Green Stuff Pads,

Category 1 Security,

Private Plate,

Illuminated Rear 300zx Panel and

Boost Gauge

 

So I plan to either...

 

Sell up and buy a supra (11k for M plate UK)

 

or

 

Deliver her to PPS and have a full makeover with wide-arse kit, spoiler, rear-bumper, skirts etc. in the micra flip paint (yep fcuk it and take the plunge at the deep end)

Get the gearbox and suspension all sorted

Get full leather interior

Get some 18" bitches on her.

 

This all at a cost of approx £6000 :eek: basically down the tubes, i.e. I will never get this money back.

 

What do you guys think, of course I know at the end of the day it is my discussion but from an outsiders point of view (not at all baised being on this forum ;)).

I've voted to keep the 300, but remember if you do, you'll have a one off car - nothing else will be the same!!

Sounds to me like you know what you want to do, and that's get more work done on the Z!:D

 

The Supra option is just a cop-out for a newer car, but you'll still want to mod it. At the end of the day the Z is still far more exclusive (I see about 20 Supras a day round here, only mine and one other Z though!)

Even if you buy a Supra in a few years time you will lose big time,they are worth more than the Z at the mo,but IMHO the price will crash in the next few years.

 

That is even if you buy a trouble free one;)Anything big and Jap costs an arm and a leg to put right,if you buy a dog:(

Spend the dough on the Z and have something original!

I was in exactly the same situation and decided to just spend on the Z.

I had just about payed off the loan to buy the car and decided I would normally have sold it, lost loads of money and had to get another loan to buy something that didn't look 100% clean and probably had all the same faults I have just spent 2.5 yrs sorting out. Now it looks like new and will handle better with all new suspension (probably better than another 5 year old car or whatever) It also looks unique and far more expensive than it is.

 

My Z will be ready at PPS in the next 2 weeks (hopefully this weekend but it always seems to get put back for one reason or another!)

Come and have a look at what a tatty looking Z can be transformed into by the Z hero Peter.

 

I'm hoping to be at Grasshopper's open day too to show it off after being without it for ages.

Give the 6K to me so I can get mine done.:D

Well I've just spent 3000 on mine plus still got a way to go, I've been chatted up twice because of my car

 

it's because it is a zed not a bloody supra

Well I still think I am going to test drive the supra, I just want to see how it handles etc.

God help me if I spend all this money and then my turbos pack up, but I guess this could happen with a poopra also.

depends if you really want to keep the car, if you still like the car but want a fresher look, then do it!! it'l look better than any Supra & you know the condition of your own car, no going through that sorting-out-another-vgc-car-that-needs-sorting-still stage :rolleyes:

 

if you plan on selling in a couple of years anyway then maybe think twice - but still do it!! :D

If you sell your Z with the faults on it how much are you going to get for it?

How much did it cost you to buy and to mod up?

So how much have you already lost on it?

Probably lots.

 

If you buy the Supra you are going to lose exactly the same again and I bet you will still end up modding it.

I bet the insurance will be more too.

 

And worse of all - it will LOOK like a Supra! :D

I've had my Cobra tour bag full of golf clubs in the back of mine...with the seats down! LMFAO :D

 

Just got my golf shoes in aswell but nowt more would fit. :D
