I'll post more info later on this coming week but my Zed's going up for sale.

She's a 1991 JDM TT in GL2 black, originally automatic but converted to manual last year. 80,000 miles, but a good portion of those will be kilometres.

Me and Tomfromthenorth have "arse-dyno'd" her and we both reckon that the engine's been fettled in some respect as power output feels higher than standard. She has a Zedworld sticker on the ECU:

SAM_0527_zpsabf78f69.jpg

The car will be essentially standard in most respects (no big brakes, OEM seats, original taillights, etc).

I will more than likely be letting the private plate go with her as well - FAZ 323 - which nicely contains "Z32" if anyone wanted to play about with the spacing ;) This was valued recently online at £1500 itself.

Good points:

Low mileage for age.

12 months' MOT.

Fairly new blue tint windscreen (bronze glass aside from that.

Healthy, powerful engine.

Manual transmission.

GL2 Black paintwork cleans up well.

Full stainless exhaust, possibly Mongoose.

Cruise control works as it should.

Private numberplate.

Bad points:

Rust on O/S rear arch and edge of rear screen.

A healthy smattering of stonechips.

No intercooler ducts.

Flaking paint on a couple of edges (round door handles, aerial, front bumper, etc).

So that's the lie of the land, really. Aside from a power steering leak shortly after I bought her, I've honestly had no issues and she's been super-reliable and (as Tom will confirm) pretty rapid when required.

I'll get some up to date pictures in the next day or so, but looking for £1,500 to drive her away. :)

Si.

I expect she'll have a different set of alloys on when the time comes as well. I'll update once she's been for an MOT. :)

Looks like quite a nice example. Would be a shame to break for spares.

Does this mean you've found a SWB? Did you end up with the silver eBay SWB?

In my opinion, she's too much of a good car to break for parts and I don't really want to contribute to yet another stripped Zed. She's a good solid car with a very nice engine... she just needs a little TLC.

As for my SWB quest: I'm hoping that's drawing to a close now but my mind's made up about the black one now so she needs to be rehomed. :)

Come on spill the details!...

I have nothing to say at this time, your honour......

Wy all this car so far away from london :)

I had to go to Norfolk to pick her up last year!

As I say, she'll be hitting the test centre at some point this week so I'll report more following that :)

Wy all this car so far away from london :)

Because the UK is a small place but much larger than just London?

I may be interested depending on cost, plus if you drive it down to the swb you wont be too far from me :winkiss:

Currently no T&T on it so I'm not likely to be driving it anywhere (other than the MOT centre)...!

Oh yeah

Sorry that sounds bad, what I'm saying is there arnt many of these cars about esp in good condition. You have got to be prepared to travel to get the right one.

A little more history on the car: the elderly gentleman I bought her from claimed that the car was running more than 500bhp and said that she easily trounced his 450odd bhp Mitsubishi Evo! Now, I don't for one second believe that power claim BUT she is very rapid and the stock boost gauge will push itself to 14psi on full throttle. That's as much as I can tell anyone and I'm all too aware that the OEM gauge is well known for being inaccurate. :)

I spoke to Lynda at Zedworld last year but she couldn't find any records as the current plate was put on after they'd worked on her.

I've changed the oil and filter twice in the last year and a bit and I've done roughly 6,000 miles since I bought her in June last year. Transmission oil was changed August last year when I did the manual conversion.

She began her life in Japan as a silver car, but has been resprayed at some point. The paint finish is generally very nice and she polishes up well but, as I said, there are some edges where it's now coming away. :(

I'm not expecting thousands of pounds for her, nor am I saying that she's absolutely "the right car" for anyone. I simply don't want to break her for spares because I think she's too much of a good Zed to suffer that fate. I could no doubt make more if she was in bits, but that's not my priority.

So... a good, powerful engine... manual transmission... in need of some TLC. This week's MOT will give me more info (it'd be lovely if she passed, but I'm being realistic here) - if anyone's curious as to why I haven't MOT'd her before now, it's quite simply because I removed the aftermarket rear foglight switch last year (due to it's location and the lights it used) and I haven't had the time or inclination to wire a new one in. That probably sounds a bit ridiculous, but that's the fact of the matter.

:)

Price if it fails or passes the MOT?

I'm open to offers either way, Noel :)

MOT's booked for 9am tomorrow. :)

Watch this space...!!

Price on this is?

MOT in the morning, mate. Pass or fail, it'll be priced to sell as my drive (and better half!) won't handle two Zeds on it. :)

Consider me watching mate

I'll post on here as soon as I'm back from the garage. :)

Ok, I'm back from the MOT centre... with a full year's ticket on the old girl!! :D

Advisories are as follows:

Offside rear shock absorber has a light misting of oil (2.7.3)

Offside rear (inner sill area) subframe mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (2.4.A.3)

Front (both) tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)

Rear (both) tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)

So there we go. One fully tested 300ZX! Odometer shows 80,364 (at time of test) but, as I said, a large proportion of that figure will be in kms.

The car will have standard seats and front brakes, pre 99 Spec rear lights and panel, no boot spoiler (which will obviously leave holes in the bootlid, I'm afraid) and I may transfer the numberplate on to the new car - haven't made my mind up about that one yet. Possibly different alloys... again, I'm undecided at the moment.

She'll be ready to go in a couple of weeks, all being well, and she'll just need taxing and insuring by the new owner and she can be driven away! :) :)

Offers invited. :thumbup1:
