Hi guys.

Just another plea for help really.

I changed the rear near side wheel bearing because of the awful noise coming from that side, the noise stopped when i went around a left hand turn so by diagnosis ended at the wheel bearing. Ive replaced the diff oil too just in case.

Anyway, i finished the wheel bearing and took it for a quick run to enjoy the noise free drive, not the case... the noise is still there and if anything has gotten worse while its been stood having the bearing work done.

Any ideas of what it could be. I simply do not understand as the wheel bearing was bad and looked well worn when i swapped it, i thought for sure it was that.

Ive had a manual conversion done recently and new engine. The diff is original tho if that makes a difference.

Also, if anyone is close to Oxford who could take a look that woud be ideal, im obviously happy to pay.

Many thanks.

Im gone passed worrying, just going to send it to the experts!!

Haha!! the things we do for our cars!!

Thanks for the help guys!!

Rear wheel bearings are hard to spot and what sometimes sounds like one corner is actually the other corner.Ive just changed a wheel bearing on my van which gave me a nearside rear rumble for 2 years, the bad bearing turned out to be the offside front:confused1: thats how the rumble reasonates across sometimes

Check your rear tyres. If they are unevenly worn at all (esp on inner edge) they car give a bearing noise. I have had it on an Audi TT rear, a bmw mini rear and a vauxhall vectra rear which, when I put the rear wheels on the front, the bearing noise moved to the front!!

Dont overlook the tyres. It gives a very similar noise as a duff bearing.

if in doubt, try the tyres with abou 16psi and then with about 42 psi and see if the noise changes. If it does, it's probably the tyres.
