Does anyone use one? Obviously the car has to be spotlessly clean and dry before installation but are they more trouble than they're worth? Potentially causing more scratches being a snug fit, would it be safer and more cost effective to just use a large piece of soft material and naturally drape it over the car?

Or am I missing the point? I understand the issues associated with outdoor covers, wind and chaffing but I'm referring to indoor covers only.

Regards,

Joel.

I have had many covers over the years on a few car all I can say is but a proper one there about £200 plus the £30 one on ebay are a waste of time try this website thay make good swag http://www.classicadditions.com/

I was looking at this company: http://www.specialisedcovers.com/car-covers.html

They look ok but very expensive and I cant see a red option in there colours.

All I need is something not to expensive and in red but the trouble I have is all 300zx's are for A LWB over here. There is a company near me with a nice car cover on ebay and I am thinking of getting in touch to see if they do a cover in red with white stripe and to fit a SWB.

I agree they are expensive but the fit looks spot on. If you're going to get a snug fit cover you need it to be near perfect otherwise I would've thought it could be counterproductive. That company do offer a red along with several other options.

Today I randomly bought a car cover from one of the traders at the NEC Classic car show, for a generic cover, it fits very well! The pic below are 2 of many choices of cover actually fitted to a 300zx, the one on the left is a breathable, waterproof cover; the black one on the right is a non waterproof, indoor only cover (which is what I was originally after). That indoor cover cost me £25!

Black one looks like a cracking fit you don't usually find a nice cheap cover that fits so well my fist cover was terrible fit the current one is a semi custom 300 cover got from the states outdoor one though fits pretty good and is one of the 6 layer one's.

It might be ugly -ish but if it protects your pride and joy who cares lol, that one cost £40 and it will keep my paint protected over the winter while its parked up out the way :thumbup1:

The black one does look very nice though and for the money an absolute bargain.

No mate, its an outdoor breathable waterproof cover, so no trapped water from sweating. Put it this way, where it is parked although sheltered, it has trees above and behind it, so its been getting tree sap and crap all over it, having to wash it off every other day to keep the grime at bay, but hopefully this cover will give it some protection, i will keep you updated with how it fairs after a few months :thumbup1:

Nice one. I have that when I was at my mums but my current house has no trees outside

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

I have just washed and dried the car, the grime and tree shite has affected the paint on the bonnet  but to be fair i will be doing a colour sand and mop before its back on the road so no big deal really.

So the car cover is now fitted and strapped down, so will check it in a month or so and see how its coping

That cover is a large, i have found that on my outdoor one, it only has two tie down eyes at the side at the bottom of the cover ( sill level) which with the wind could do with more, but you can buy some cramp on tie downs from a camping shop or similar which stops it from coming off in high wind. The front and rear is elasticated but not strong enough on their own without tying down.

Extra large would give you more coverage but not a tight fit like the large :thumbup1:
