Hi folks

I've finally found the car i've wanted a non turbo Fairlady which has only done 44k interior, exterior, engine looks spotless, interior cloth electric seats,no cruise control, manual dark grey with grey interior.

The only thing that makes me a bit nervous is no history at all as it's an import.

It's a '92 model.

Any thing i should be asking or look out for.

If it's still there this afternoon i'll put down some money and pick it up this weekend....

Hi Alex,

Didnt you have a 928?

Have you taken this NA Fairlady out for a test drive? As I expect there will be a great difference in performance! :)

If the importer has no history from Japan, then has he got proof of auction grading? i.e grade 3 or something?

5 As new, immaculate condition.

4.5 Very minor paint blemish to one panel.

4 Minor paint blemishes to two panels.

3.5 One or two panels affected by paint blemishes, minor work required

3 Rough all round condition,

2.5 Rough panels all round

2 Some serious paint blemishes

0 Accident damage and repair(or serious modifications-non std bodykit, suspension etc etc)

If its been in the UK for a while has anyone changed the cam belt or done any other sort of maintenance?

And don't forget that insuring an import NA usually costs more than insuring a UK TT, and practically the same as insuring an import TT...

Have you had her up and running? Taken her out for a spin?

Personally, I'd be VERY careful when dealing with an import - some on here have them, so they will be able to give you a better idea as to what to look for...but if that's truly what you want, insurance notwithstanding, then go for it! :D

Anita.

Alex,

If you need to take it to a mechanic to get it checked out, then as you live in W.London, may I suggest a short trip down the M3 to Camberley.

See Mark at Eurospec,he specialises in imported japanese cars and is highly recommended.

Tell him Tony sent you.To find out where he is and to give him a ring check outthe following; http://www.euro-spec2000.co.uk

Cheers,

F.T.
