Finally done the 4 hour journey from London up to P.P.S yesterday and met the infamous Peter. Nice to meet ChrisC, PaulG and Aki again - very friendly guys.

 

Anyway, I have to perfectly honest and say I'm impressed with the standard of his work after seeing the cars that were ready and the job he's done on Chris's car (gonna look the business). As some of you may know my car went to a certain bodyshop in Nottingham exactly a year ago to have a full kit and respray. After a few months (and less than 2K), there was paint flaking off and cracks in the side skirts as well as rust coming through - needless to say I wasn't impressed (and that's an understatement). No blame was accepted by the garage for the paint flaking - which I still can't understand??????????

 

Anyway, one thing that really hit me with Peter is the way he doesn't try to bump up the price for any extras. He gave me a price for the work that we agreed and then I wanted extra bits done like fitting a tow eye, i/c vents and replacing mastic that was used, with fibreglass. I asked him how much extra it would be and got the reply "don't worry about it, it'll only be an extra couple of hours". The other garage I used bumped up the price for every silly little extra to the point that when the car was ready it was a couple of extra hundred pounds (to be fair, I did get phone calls to tell me this) which really annoyed me cos you don't have any choice at that point.

 

The final thing that really impressed me was when it was time to leave to get a flight back. Peter had said he'd drop me to the airport, but got extremely held up. I said no problem, I'd happily get a cab, to which he replied no way, as he'd promised he would get me to the airport. Instead he phoned up his girlfriend/wife (at least I think she was) to come and pick me up and take me to the airport which was a half hour journey - I was reallY impressed with that!!

 

To anyone that's thinking about having a respray or kit fitted, I would certainly recomend PPS. As I said earlier, it took me 4 hours to get there, but if I add the multiple journies to Nottingham, it worked out a lot more. (not including wasting petol). He's very friendly and you can tell he takes pride in the work he does.

 

Last of all, a massive thanks to the big man himself, Iain. He's given me help and advice with bits I needed for my car and he went out of his was to meet me to show me the way to PPS. Cheers mate, it's really appreciated!!!!!!!

 

I will post pictures and comments when I pick my car up (in about 3 weeks) to let anyone interested know.

Yeah Peter is a top bloke and I'm really happy with my car so far.

 

Thanks from me too to Iain for all the help so far with getting parts and even helping me re-fit the interior to my Z.

Peter at PPS is a cracking bloke, excellent quality of workmanship and for the money he charges it's scary! Especially when you take into account what other bodyshops in our specialised car arena would charge you for work that would be sub standard to what PPS can achieve! ;)

 

As for Iain? I've made some great friends on this forum who will put themselves out for you at the drop of a hat and I respect that and hope that I can do the same for them someday.

 

Iain has saved me thousands and helped me with my car where I wouldn't have had the nounce to begin. Top geezer and a very, very valued friend!

Does PPS have a web site or e-mail address. If Peter is as good as you say he is I will also be prepared to travel the 4 or so hours it takes to get there.

I agree with you completely, Peter is a great bloke that you can never imagine taking you for a ride (only to the airport and back)!

He seems to share your enthusiasm about the mods you want to do to your car and takes pride in the work he does!

 

Frankly it is a complete contrast to that previous Paint shop we both visited Eh!

 

I would have got the respray done by him when I first had the car, if I knew I was gonna keep it, for the money it looks a million dollars!

What did he rush you for the respray Vijay?...Ive been toying with doing mine in a flip paint....but in reality, Im probably just going for a straight colour. Mines a gorgeous Black at the mo and unmarked, but I like the look of the Red ones with the high lip rear spoiler.

I was up at PPS again today putting more interior in and Peter was getting on with your Z.

Give him a call mate as he was amazed at what a crap job had been done on your car.

Every 2 minutes he was shouting and swearing about another bodge he had found from that previous place.

He's not impressed to say the least.

What i dont understand is this. If you have had a problem with said company why not name them.(unless of course for legal reason pertaining to you suing them)

But if your not, why cant we just say it as we see it. If the company did a shit job, regardless of anything and you have had a bad experience, why cant you name it.

Because said company could decide to threaten a liabel action against Craig if they so desired (whether or not the post was true & factual, that would end up for the courts to decide).

 

And lets face it, they could probably afford better lawyers than Craig... (especially as he doesn't seem to actually cash those £20 cheques :))

How many cases of libel have acutaully been one first of over the net? as opposed to been thrown out, would someone spend all that money suing someone when the cost involved on the job is a matter for small claims court ect.

(i would just like to point out based on the ammount of experience i have regarding all said company suing or threatening you ect and all the death threats, its an intimidation tactic that goes no where)

No company in there right mind would actually sue over the sums of money involved.And if they did it would cost them far more period.

Warren has a point, I've just taken it for granted that people would know who I mean. For those who don't know I've had a bad experience with the workmanship from the bodyshop that the Z centre uses which is F.G Accident & repairs. Other people may have been happy with his work, but I certainly am not. If anyone is thinking of using him, feel free to mail me and I will tell you of the many problems, or look in my rides section and you will see pictures of a few of the faults.............

 

I spoke to Peter today (after ChrisC's post) - I lost count of how many times Peter used the word "cringed" :(
