turbo upgrade choice

Hi all I've decide to upgrade my turbos to the gt525 and waiting on delivery:) with the hope of around 500bhp:) now my mates turbos have just gone too and he wants to upgrade to get similar power too but he's on a budget after much convincing on my part to stay away from those godspeed 600 turbos he left me on a challenge to find good quality rebuilt turbos for less money than I paid and I came across these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-PAIR-NISSAN-300zx-Twin-Turbo-Upgrade-Performance-Turbochargers-NICE-/400768251946?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d4fa6382a

And these

Just wondering if someone could advise me as to the quality and if 1st link provided has had enough done to the turbos so there capable off 500bhp or whether he will need the setin the 2nd link and run less boost to hit the 500 mark they all come with 1 year warranty but don't want him to be getting cheap shot cheers

Just out of intrest how much was your new tubs and exchange if any and were did you order? And am i right saying that the gt525 are cheaper than the gt500 at the mo. With the other issue i cant help sorry. Im just looking sawell to get the best deal but dont want to redo in six month.cheers

I'd say you need to do more research. If your on a budget either get new stock cores or build a set if custom turbos. He could have a pair of common gt28 cores rebuilt and the stock housings machined to fit to make a set of gt525s, but I will say this, you do this at your own risk. I wouldn't expect a rebuilt turbo to last as well as a new one. Alternatively there are a few off the shelf turbos you can reclock and modify to suit, most of z1s kits are just that with a fitting kit.

seem very to me like. I bet there are some crap after market turbos about so watch out cheap for a reason

i had a look and thick they look ok,its weather they do what they say on the tin.and the secound link why would you run less boost through a larger tub anyway? im sure i hurd Noz/ Noel say a good while back that you can actuly do more damage to a tub if you dont run the boost that they were desined for,he will have to clarifie this thoug. Noel?

apart from that im almost ready to take a gamble.ive only got ten days to go before i make my mind up.so im still looking myself. and just to add apart from the shipping cost aswell i still think people have still the same risk of buying dummies over here as well as jap or american. theres only so much homwork you can do.

No, I've never said that at all, running less boost will never damage a turbo. I was discussing compressor map efficiency islands of GTX turbos.

You run less boost through a larger turbo to achieve the same peak outcome due to airflow.

Concept z they were 2200 dollars including shipping and 400 core charge which worked out at £1400 it comes with all the gasket and a couple off oil lines aswell probs have to pay around £170 import duty as well so your looking at £1550 for the kit

Dear customer,

The turbos are stock genuine Garrett turbos with gt2860 compressor wheels and all new Garrett bearing and seal etc. The thrust bearings are upgrade 360 type and they have stagger gap turbine seals. The are similar to JWT sport 530's And will make up to 550BHP. I do not have any dyno sheets for these turbos installed but I know from customer reviews and 25 years in turbo business exactly what the max output is on these turbos. They also come with a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty.

Thank you

James

That's the info the chap just gave me for the turbo in link 1 think it sounds pretty good tbh

Have a chat with CR turbos, they sorted yewcheck out with some gt525 type turbos with genuine garret cores. I seem to remember mark saying that midland turbo will build them for about £700.

i quite like these:

Up for auction is this Fantastic looking perfect (PAIR TWO) New or fresh factory **UPGRADED**GARRETT Performance turbochargers . These turbochargers are in perfect NEW LOOKING condition. They have been UPGRADED to GT-28RS Disco Potato 62 Trim (47.19mm inducers & 60.1mm exducer compressors). The exhaust side upgrade uses the Giant T28 76 Trim turbine wheels (52.7mm inducers & 46.12mm exducers) with all the trick machine work, special balancing blue printing and a 360 deg. thrust bearing to make your car an animal. They have never been installed after UPGRADE, so you can bid with confidence. (removed from original packaging for photos only). This pair of massive upgrades are CAPABLE of SUPPORTING OVER 700H.P. These are the largest upgrades possible in the factory style bolt-up housings you can buy at any price. If you are a discriminating buyer and are looking for the top of the line, and ultimate in performance? THIS IS IT!!! The original Model numbers that these will replace are # TB-2206/07/08/09/10/11. These units original applications include the 1990 to 1995 NISSAN 300zx Twin Turbo models, with the 3.0L engines, but could be used on other applications as well. These GIANT PERFORMANCE turbos have a very low drag DYNAMIC SEAL assembly that makes them IDEAL for use in a performance system, as they will spool up very quickly. If you have had a turbo failure and need replacements, are building or restoring your toy, have a turbocharging project that could benefit from these perfect turbochargers, then by all means don’t let this go by. These special Performance units like this are almost impossible to find and are very expensive, ( This pair of NISSAN units in this size category sell for over $ 1900.00 from the dealer BEFORE the UPGRADES, an"$850.00 value") ( These are not those cheep knock-offs from china, Don't get DUPED!!!!!! ).

For performance flow maps of the compressor wheels used in these turbos please see the folowing link.
