Hi guys

I have a 1989 z32 tt with an intermittent brake problem. I have d2 380mm 8 pistons on the front and 330 4 pots on the rear. I am using dot 5 brake fluid and have a firm brake pedal, however every now and then (we are talking a once a week event) when I brake the brake pedal will go to the floor with no resistance at all. If I lift and brake again the pedal feel comes back but it's not a nice feeling. I don't know what the pedal was like before the brakes were fitted because it was stored in my garage for 7 1/2 years. Any help would be appreciated. I have read a post where someone else had the same problem (with the standard Nissan brakes) and they changed the brake master cylinder but it did not solve the problem.

Does not sound exactly the same as an issue I had a while back, but maybe related, so here you go. What I had was a break pedal that got 'soft' when pressing for a while (when e.g. standing at a traffic light). This would however only happen if I had been in slow traffic / traffic jam and temperature increased under bonnet. Changed fluid several times, but this did not help. Had no visible leak or loss of fluid (that was noticeable at least), but in the end I decided to replaced all BMC seals, which sorted the problem.

I'd replace the cylinder seals first, I managed to get a oem Nissan kit for the clutch they probally do one for the brakes too.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will order the rebuild kit and change the seals. I will repost the results when done, to hopefully hp out any other 300 owners if they have the same problem
