Just doing some last minute checks before the Coventry show, so decided to take a little run up the by-pass.

Everything was great until I came to slow down from about 80mph to take the exit.

Symptoms are vibration and wheel wobble from the front end and transmitted through the steering wheel under heavy breaking.

I must be getting 20mm clockwise and 20mm anti-clockwise movement in the steering wheel.

Very unnerving to say the least.

Car felt very skittish.

Under normal low speed braking all appears to be smooth.

(Only just passed MOT as well!)

Where should I start to look?

Things I can eliminate are..

Wheel balance.

Warped disc's

Faulty callipers and pistons

Brake pads.

Thanks in advance.

Start with the simple things - check all your wheel nuts are torqued correctly (inc spacers if you have them).

Check for any obvious uneven wear on pads and discs.

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Do you have spigot rings on your alloys? Also i didnt have any vibration until i recently changed my front discs and pads that had been used before, now i do have some brake judder from 60mph, worth checking your discs again.

Drive the car a bit..............keep the braking and see if it eases off. is it a while since you've driven the car?

This happened to both my Prelude ane Eclipse after not being driven for a couple of months. it gradually got easier the more i drove but never went away until i changed the discs and pads.

In my experience with chasing under braking steering wheel wobble, it has always turned out to be the discs. If your on stock brakes, then some pattern discs aren't to expensive to eliminate this as a problem. I have replaced bushes and ball joints etc. before coming to this conclusion, because in some cases the discs have been quite new.

Thanks Lexx,

Have checked the wheel nuts, all ok

Also checked the disc's and pads, all look good.

I will work through all of the advice given step by step.

Cheers guys.

Have you got a tool for testing the discs mate? Even a slight warp that you can't tell by eye is enough to cause a wobble..

My plan is to jack up the front end and check for run out with a DTI on a magnetic base.

Hopefully I can get to inside and outside faces easily enough.

Not done it before, so it will be a bit of trial and error.

Hopefully that way I will be able to eliminate the disc's, but I am open to suggestions.

Check tension rod bushings and if fitted with aftermarket bushes (early design poly bushes) check

two bolt fixing of the tension rod to lower suspension arm.

This, had exactly the same on the wifes TT and torsion rod bushes were shot...........

You do realise I hope that your Zed is not supposed to be driven like that....

It should be parked up for rust and turbo repairs.

Or you should be at home adding more Leds and taking your fog lights apart to paint them inside:whistling:

Stop driving it..............................
