Hi.

As anyone bought the cheap Ebay Consult USB leads and had any success?

I have recently bought 2 sorts...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-OBD-diagnostic-consult-infinity-S14-RNN14-VQ30DE-/230631879339?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item35b2bb32ab

I have tried them both with 2 different laptops with no joy. I have faffed about with com port settings to try and get them working, but no joy. I just keep getting error opening com port messages, the computer sees the USB adaptor, but not the car.

TBH, the 2nd link (CHINA) product seems better than the 1st, the adaptor has an red LED for starters that at least shows there is power.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

The software is the free consult or Tecu.

Cheers...

Not much help as I don't have it. But I've read people have had the same problems as yourself and they have managed to sort it out. Someone will help more soon.

I had a similar problem with USB cable to laptop using DataScan.

I eventually managed to update the drivers by connecting everything up and powering everything up until seeing the same error.

I then went into device manager which showed the port had a driver fault, once updated it worked fine.

Hope this helps.

I have the 2nd one on your list and have had no problems with it.

The driver disk that came with mine was no good so I found the ones you need on here.

Look in the data scan 1 / download section.

Cheers Guys & special thanks to Cyberbean (great name BTW!). Did as you suggested and now I have a working lead that talks to the car with all the freebies including NDS. It was the USB CP2101 driver that got it working, the FTDI driver was supplied and already installed.

I will probably purchase the full activation of NDS to get the full functions, unless anyone can suggest a better alternative???

Note this is the 2nd link adaptor and cable from China that is now working, the other one still doesn't so I can't recommend it.
