The hesitation as I accelerate from stationary is getting worse.

Not only is it hesitating but revs are now dropping and the car has cut out on several ocassions. Once the car is warm the symptom disapears. Fuel pump and air filter just done but no help.

She is becoming increasingly hard to start in the morning also.

BIGROY you said you has similar problems and it was a vacuum leak, How did you diagnose this and resolve. does a PTU failure cause this type of problem?

Had similar symptons just recently. Took the car to Jeff TT for a service and bits, problem almost gone. Car still slow to start but not as bad, think this may be down to the battery, meant to get a new one whilst there. Jeff told me the coolant sensor was faulty/very dirty conection. Cleaned it up and most of the problem gone. He does a great Job.

Your probs sound worse than mine, but still the same, only cut out once thought. Both the AA and Jeff reported that as a result of the faulty sensor the car was over fueling and flooding its self.

Regards.

How do you clean the coolant sensor??

Jeff TT any ideas??

That happened to me. I cleaned and reset the TPS and all was fine

whats the best method to clean the TPS

Is there a procedure to remove it from the engine.

I unscrewed the two screws but the TPS still seemed firmly attached:confused:

there is not alot to clean on it. I use a nail file to get the crap off the terminals. The wires going into it also loop back onthemselves so might be broken, sure mine are, try putting them in a different position. HTH

The temp sensor is on the top radiator pipe that goes into the front middle of the engine.

There are 2 sensors - 1 for the gauge on the dash, the other for the ECU. Can't remember which is which but just unplug the wire from each and unscrew them.

Clean off any gunge/corrosion until they are nice and shiny.

Also clean the throttle bodies with carb cleaner and an old toothbrush.

Disconnect the battery. Take off the 2 big hard pipes that go onto the plenum. Move the throttle pulley to open the butterflies and scrub out all the black oily gunge that coats them. Clean the flaps and around the back and sides as much as you can.

Leave battery off for an hour before reconnecting (just enough time to do the job!) This resets the ECU to re-learn the air flow characteristics.
