Stalling problem, low boost and forgetting to connect the recirc valves?

Hi guy's and girls....... I have been having a few issues with stalling when coming off the gas and slowing for a junction or roundabout...... rev's drop too low and she stalls.....

Being an auto this can be a bit dicey with getting into neutral, starting her and having no power steering whilst doing it....... lol

Upon investigation today on the good old 't-internet'....... I learned that I have been........ erm......... well.......... stooooooopid by all accounts......

After reading a piece about not fitting dump valves or BOV's that vent to atmosphere..... I realised that I fitted my recirc valves....... but forgot to connect the vacuum pipes to them.....

Could this be what is causing my stalling??....... could the turbo's be stalling?

Could this also cause the lack of boost?...... currently cannot get past 7 psi with the Profec B II.........???

Or is it more likely to be a huge boost leak somewhere????

Any help appreciated as running out of spanner time before next sunday.......... I currently can't even get up due to bad chest infection and even worse asthma............

I also gave up smoking for good 4-5 days ago as this has scared me that much, I don't want to be like this permanently.................

Hi Russ,

I would imagine any missing pipe-work would/could affect your idle, especially when coming off throttle etc'

As for boost? I don't really know, but sounds as though it would be a potential boost leak.

As for smoking with asthma, well I think you know the answer to that one mate! Stick with the quitting.

You will never regret it mate.

By the way, are you coming up for the Coventry meet?

It would be great to meet up.

If you mean the vacuum pipes that operate the recircs are not connected and the ends are open then you will have two large boost leaks via the non connected vacuum lines, this will cause the issues you have.

Hi Jeff, I had fitted vacuum bungs on the vacuum nipples when i got her together, but forgot to run the vacuum pipes from the manifold to the recirc valves......

I read that no recirculation stalls the turbos and can destroy them quickly? as well as dumping to atmosphere causes huge MAF over fuelling problems on a car by car basis?

Some run okay and others just won't run at all like this....

I am going to run the vacuum pipes first of all and then check for boost leaks...........

I am also going to check the timing and air regulator and IACV pipes, etc.......

Seems to me the best way forward here is hook up the vac lines to recirc properly and see if it solves the issue?

Well I connected the vacuum pipes to the recirc valves and no difference with noise or sign they are even working........ pretty much..... no boost.......

and still she is trying to stall........ must be a boost leak somewhere........ or something come loose....

Going to start at the turbo's and work outward with gaskets and then vacuum pipes to the boost controller....... main Pipes and clamps from turbo's to the intake.......

I have done nothing since yesterdays drive and it stalled and had only 6-7 psi........ She is possessed................. lol

Going to get a squirty bottle with some water and washing up liquid for a boost leak test......

Just off to Tesco for tin to make temporary leak tester.......
