Any of you guys got experience with the Scarab Exhausts advertised on Luke's website?

I like the look of two rear pipes as oposed to four.

How many extra hundreds BHP gain i there?

I would guess most cat back systems are similar in terms of gains.

Hi ya Glenn,

Good to see that you're still keeping the faith mate!

I would be interested in this aswell, I've checked out Luke's exhausts and they look quite tastey.

How much HP do you lose in keeping the cats? People say that the quickest way to free up BHP is intake and exhaust, so how much should you expect to see between a straight through and a cat-back sys.?

;-)

There is power to be gained from removing the cats, but there are two main things to remember (as discussed here previously).

1. The age of your turbos, the reduction in back-pressure means more exhaust gas flowing through your turbos. Apparently (correct me if I'm wrong) this puts a strain on old oil seals. Luke recommends fitting cat-replacements if you have had new/reconditioned turbos. Some people fit them to old cars and find they suddenly have smokey engines.

2. Noise - increased, but avoidable - he does have available cat replacements with small silencers ( www.zcentre.co.uk\exhausts\zc070b.htm ). The neighbours will only take so much before they're tempted to put go-faster stripes down you motor with their car keys!

Also a quick tip, if you are considering buying an exhaust system now and a bodykit later, speak to him to make sure your intentions are compatible. It saves buying new exhausts when you want a bodykit.

Hi,

I have the cat-free Scarab exhausts on my Non-Turbo, fitted by Luke last year.

They are quite loud on my non-turbo car, but apparently, are a bit quieter with turbos to muffle them!

Frightened a few French peasants whilst on holiday, giving it full throttle, driving through some french villages last year!!

Thanks for the info guys.

In a perverse way I was hoping the garage who dropped out my diff to replace leaky oils seals would say ' and by the way your exhaust is shot so go and get a nice stainless job'. but as I spent £450 last month on a service and front pads, and am spending the same this mointh on seals, cambelts change etc I guess its a good thing ....

Bit of an arse as I'm getting a tax rebate this month which would have covered an exhaust and intake upgrade.

To top it all some parts are coming from Holland so I wont see the Z till next Tuesday.

Glenn

Which bulbs have gone Glenn??? biggrin.gif hahaha I can't stop laughing - bulbs, holland, hahahahahahaha.......

CheerZ,

Andy
