Hi all, need you advice again.

fitting a aftermarket momo wheel and it seems there is no way for the horn to work. the boss has one wire on it running from the brass circular base and two indicators cancel markers. the car had a momo wheel fitted but had a horn push button sitting in the cowling so want it back to the centre of the wheel. once the wheel is off its just the steering rack and the white plastic for the switches, so cant figure out whats missing?? The blue cut wire it the horn live!

You're missing the "clock spring".

It's the rotating part that allows the horn wiring to rotate around with the steering wheel.

thanks alex, now to figure out where to get one and what it looks like, looks like a wanted thread is starting

Hold up. Is your car an airbag model?

Not sure if pre airbag cars have a separate arrangement.

My answer is based on my own car.

But since there are choc blocks in there, it's definitely been gypo'd at some point in it's history.

If it's a 96 car then it would have had an airbag originally (mine is a 95 na).

So yeah, clock spring missing. There is a guide over on a yank site for wiring the clock spring to ensure that srs is disabled and light doesn't come on.

I can only comment on what is on my car when I removed my momo wheel to fit the 350z wheel.

seems some idiot has been to happy behind this cowling at a point in time.

different again to that ebay one. think ill put her old wheel back on until I can get the correct part. hate owners removing genuine parts and not leaving them with the vehicle

If you no one gives you an answer in the coming weeks, I'll remove my wheel and cowling so you can see the set up (wiring totally unchanged between the Momo wheel and the 350z one).

I'd do it sooner but it's in for MOT retest tomorrow then off to LakeZ.
