seen it all now you have far to much times on your hands sir

All the salt from riding motorbikes in winter has corroded his mind :tongue_smilie::tongue_smilie::tt2:

from the time I have been on here I have seen you being very critical of every one else on here you have really stood out I wonder if anyone else has noticed this am sure they have but just don't say anything yet if anyone say anything to you. then you go on the defence then attack you seem a very strange kind of chap. I have been on many car forums over the years but you really do stand out

That link you put up Si looks good. Plus if you have a car in good condition and something is letting it down then why not replace it.

Found another one here. http://www.vintagsuk.com/

They look interesting. Will ask MJP I think, you must have, at some point been able to get replacement ones, especially for vehicles that had at some point had a front-end hit.

I can't see my vin plate as it's hidden under a cooling panel, don't remember it showing it's age though on the odd time I see it, can't a bit of duraglit bring it back or is it too far gone ?

No, it's fine, but I just want a fresh one. They go slightly cloudy over time. I am being overly fussy and just want a nice bright brand new one. I did polish it slightly, but the black print has started to wear back.

I know you'll have no intention of selling but one day you will and what if someone asks you about it and you say all of the above, think they might smell something fishy and give you a funny frown, leave it aged and try your best to live with it bud !!

If it's a direct replacement, I can't see it ever being questioned as it'll just look like the one it came with, but see your point.

A new vin plate would make me very suspicious of a car. I would stick with the original

Mine looks really aged. Someone has taken a polish to it in the past and removed most of the black (unembossed) lettering.

If you manage to find somewhere I'd be interested too. I'd keep the original one with my paperwork as proof.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

My VIN plate is starting to look rather aged - I am looking around to see whether anyone has had a new one made up? Can Nissan supply these?

In addition, I have come across this : http://www.vin-plate.co.uk/custom_vin_plates.html

Anyone have any experiences with this type of thing?

Seriously ?

Surely these could only legitimately be supplied by Nissan.

This is why I asked the question. It's not a part that's listed, but there's probably good reason for that.

The very same! Will do!

I can see why you would want to change it as you have a spotless example which to be honest would make my suspicions even stronger( front end damage or stolen) they are old cars you would expect to see an old vin plate even if it shows the original colour has been changed.

And reading your train of thought......I am able to supply yes an EL sheet so you can back light it, any idea of the desired colour .

I would agree with that if their market value was substantially higher than it is. However, with their current values and the car being purely an old low value (relatively speaking) enthusiast / hobby vehicle, I am not sure that same argument would apply?

Yeah, black, can you illuminate in that colour? :wack:

Not a problem, a little tip don't plug the sheet in to obtain the colour of choice and at night is when it'll look it's best !!

One of the top tips for people buying cars these days whatever the value is to check the log book against the vin plate, 75 percent of buyers of a zx know about cars so a new vin plate will stick out like a sore thumb. Maybe just my opinion
