fingers crossed for you, its one of those things that no matter how sure you are the buggers can always find something stupid to fail you on :(

Good luck! I am sure it'll be fine. I always get petrified at MOT time. EVERY MOT it sails though, but it still doesn't stop me worrying!

Failed on a corroded brake pipe.

Just say waiting on their quote to fix.

Everything else ok though.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

that's not too bad, depends on the pipe though, the ones under the diff are a nightmare !!!!

£140 for the centre rear section of brake pipe (inc labour).

Had a chat with the main guy afterwards. He said he's very sympathetic towards older cars with HIDs fitted properly as they increase safety rather than decrease.

Thats not too bad!

Got my Z booked in for MOT with SVA in Dover they import cars no Zs though!

All I see in there are scuby's, skylines, honda's ect!

Not sure what they will make of my Z!

Self imported & arrived in Southampton 15th May (been on my drive since )

Cant wait to get it on the road

All done and passed. No advisories.

Nice one Alex.....

And as for HIDs in a 300zx - whilst Alex's tester might be sympathetic towards retro-fits, the thing is most garages would not necessarily notice a conversion in a Z32. The dipped beam is of the projector type - so it looks like it "could" be OEM, even if the tester spots the obvious give-away on first switching them on. Plus, the beam pattern will most likely be spot on too - unlike those idiots who pop an H4 conversion in the regular lamps of their Fiesta/Clio/Corsa etc

I have not had a problem in the last 8 or so years with my Zeds.....!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Which is?

You mean you have not noticed?

HIDs - whether OEM or retro-fit first come on very bright, then dim slightly, before rising back to full brightness over about 10 seconds. A bit like some fluorescent lights..... Is it called "arcing" perhaps....?

I know how they "come on". Your wording of "The dipped beam is of the projector type - so it looks like it "could" be OEM" read oddly to me.

That's not the bit you quoted from my post though mate....

However, when I said that the projector beam lens looks like [HIDs] "could" be OEM - I meant just that. If you look at 2 modern cars of the same model type, but one has HIDs and one does not, if the dipped beam is of the projector type (as opposed to seeing the bulb in the centre of a large reflector), then at a glance, the lamp units look almost the same. All OEM HID units are of the projector-type appearance - so the tester could be forgiven for not noticing or knowing any different.

Following on from my post 5, I didn't pop down on the 20th I did though on the 23rd but it failed..............boo hoo !!!

HC emissions were too high, exceeding the 1200 limit, this is down to it not running on all 6 which is an intermittant fault I have so I basically took a chance, also failed on dipped lights were both too high.

Been advised on front shock bushes as well, these will be sorted in July.

Lights were soon adjusted down a fraction which just left me hoping one day it'll start and be running right which as happened before, so started it today and it ran awful, I removed this and that, wiggled here and there and all of a sudden it was running sweet so without turning off I went for the re test, HC emissions are now at 938ppm....................so I have my 12 and half month ticket now :cool3:.

EDIT : Not a mention of the lights being the HID type.
