More PC help needed as you chaps were so helpful last time!!

One corner of my monitor appears to be green in colour, possibly due to speakers being next to it at some point - is there any way of getting the proper colours back?

Yes, it need degaussing. There may be a facility built into the monitor for this but I'm not sure. You can also get them degaussed by most TV repair shops...

Ta Andy!!

All monitors have the degaussing system or they would be like that all the time.

When you switch the monitor on you will hear a "bong" type noise and this is the circuit working.

It's louder on some monitors than others.

Some have a button on the front or an option in the On Screen Display to degauss - it's usually a horse shoe magnet shape.

You might find that just switching the monitor off and on over a few days clears it.

Monitors that are left on all the time next to magnets will suffer most from this.

Get yourself some magnetically shielded speakers if it's a problem.

It may also be a sign of the Monitor is on its way out. My last monitor started of doing that in one corner, then the oposite corner went red, untill all the corners and sides where different colours and only a small area in the middle of the screen showed the correct colour.

hmmmm,

its only a very small patch in the lower left hand corner, and it's been like that for about 5 or 6 months, without any change.

Have to keep an eye on that one then.

Move your speakers further away?

Are there any metal objects nearby that might have become magnetic and be causing it?

Try moving the monitor to see if it goes away.

If not could be a magnet has moved on the back of the tube.

Whatever it sounds like quite a simple job to fix unless it is really old.

Not next to any speakers or other magnetic items, I learnt that the hard way with my last monitor!!

Gues I'll try just turning it off/on several times, perhaps each time I boot up, and see if it gets better over time.

If it degausses when you turn it on, you will need to leave it off for around half an hour first.
