Pair of H3C bulbs URGENT

My friendly MOT tester is unable to test my car in the time scale I need.

As HIDs are a grey area, and I really don't have the time to fight with an MOT tester over them, does anyone have a pair of standard H3C headlight bulbs they could loan me?

I can send them back to you once it's through the test.

Need these urgently as MOT is booked for Friday.

Cheers

Just test it with hids mate, he would have to be a complete arse to pick on them...

The problem is that if he is an arse.

I don't have the time at all to allow it to fail on something so trivial. Easier to just quickly stick the OEM bulbs in.

I should have a pair somewhere, Al :)

Brilliant, if you can find them would you mind popping them in the post?

I'll send you them straight back on Saturday.

Good for you. But your MOT tester is likely to be many miles from where I live ;)

I don't know of ANYONE who's been denied an MOT on the basis of having HIDs fitted. You'll be fine. The only time that it's questioned is when they're fitted to cars without projector style headlamps as regular headlamps' beam-scatter gives HID bulbs bad glare and dazzle, something that projector headlights do not do.

You're more likely to fail on inadequate light output if you refit standard bulbs.

They're in the box my HIDs came in.

Which I seem to have thrown out as it was "taking space up"... :( If I come across them, I'll get them in the post to you but I have a horrible feeling I got your hopes up for nothing, mate... sorry!!! :(

You make a good point as always Si.

It'll just be an utter headache if he fails it.

Gah, maybe I'll just take the shot. As you say, should be fine. Although I'll need to earth both wiring harnesses so that the headlights stay on when main beams flash. At least that should only take 5 mins to put in a temp rig.

Damn my job and the way it saps my available time!

Actually they do scatter when used in our projectors, it's just not nearly so bad as that in reflector lights. I've never had a

problem at MOT with the HIDs fitted.

why dont you just take the car else were if the guy is a total arse simple as that

Indeed, which is why I said 'bad beam scatter'. Not suggesting they don't give beam scatter, just not 'bad' like regular reflector headlights do. ;)

Read my OP.

My usual guy can't fit me in. The car needs an MOT. I don't know for sure the new place will be pedantic, but I'm trying to avoid it if he is.
