My very own user name is from the ground breaking 'The Young Ones' and feel it's my duty to start this thread.

That is correct, reading a typo, the devil gets a few minutes to cause mischief because his name is mentioned 3 times, twice by Rik and once by Neil, I spell it differently to as Rik, Ben Elton and Lise Mayer penned it - they spell it Ftumch.

Really sad this, he wasn't even old. I remember my letting me watch bottom and the young ones, didn't get half if it but it was so well written even now.

that's sad no way loved him when he was in bottom what a shame that is

heard this aswel loved him in the young ones and drop dead Fred such an amazing actor/comedian R.I.P

Wow shocking news, been off the media radar all day, and first thing I do is come on here to find this sad news.

A real shame, a brilliant modern iconic comedian of our time, almost died several years ago in a quad bike crash but recovered to still produce some brilliant characters on TV.

The last of the Great Hussars!! will miss the old Bombardier!! RIP Rik Mayall.

incompetent spelling!!

It was a shock when I heard the news earlier too - RIP Rik; you made me laugh from the time I first saw The Young Ones way back in 1982 or thereabouts....

.......And again in Bottom, The New Statesman and who can forget your role as Flash-Heart in Blackadder!!!

A sad loss to comedy indeed:cry:

Richard:sad:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A big shock and such a shame, I watched all the young ones and have every episode of bottom, my fave programme whilst I was growing up through teenage years and beyond.

RIP Rik :(

And punks and skins and rasta's will all gather round and hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader. And all the grown-ups will say, "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say, "Haven't you heard? Rick is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"

RIP

It wasn't just "the scripts" that were funny.
