Anybody know how to test the VTC solenoids are operating correctly , preferably in situ , Is there a test procedure I can carry out ?

why do you think they are faulty Neil ? if you unplug them a rattling noise will be audible.Unplug them and drive it youll know if they are working,the car will feel very flat.

Hi Jimmer, when I hit 4 K the car bogs down badly ,the car is known to run rich on the pass side and lean on the driver side bank .so im now working my way through the remaining possibilities of this issue , a new loom is being fitted and I am wanting to check every sensor the loom connects to , VTC solenoids included, to date all the injectors have been cleaned properly ( ultrasonic) and flow tested etc, its had another maf, and PTU, fuel pressure regulator checked, fule filter ( new) and yet the problem remains , driving normally below 4 K , or booting it , the car pulls well
