Hey all,

 

Having a look round my engine bay I noticed that a cable was unplugged, after a bit of research I found out it was the E.C.U. Water Temperature Sensor. I plugged this back in as I thought it may have just fallen out but smoke started coming out the exhaust along with a horrible smell. I left it running for a few minutes hoping it would clear but it didn't, so I unplugged it and everything returned to normal. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

that's a strange one .. as it would normally be the opposite way .. unplugged will give a little smoke and fuel smell ..

do you have a remapped ECU ?

Sounds like it was dumping fuel when connected like on cold start....was the electric fan on when it was unplugged

Yeah, as soon as I plug it in again the fan switches off.

 

It's not remapped to my knowledge.

That paticular sensor is a vital part of the engine managment with regards to fuel ect and given its price new should be replaced far more often than it is. Buy a new one and treat it as a base setting for further fault finding;)

Ecu water temp sensor i need one of those me thinks as well.thanks for reminding me.how much are they anyhow?
