JaiKai - Full rebuild & Respray

So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment.

Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that

I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32.

After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan.

So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report.

Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now then showing the

strip down and all the bad luck I've had.

So here she is as I bought her :

Nice them Lee.

In an ideal world the dipped opening would be a perfect 75mm id but as you state it 'wanders' to 80mm in a place, it's not a problem for those 24 smd halos i have been using as they sit snuggly against at the rear but my next 2 x pairs i am doing i'll be using a diffuser in front, like your ccfl ones have built in, and like you will not be a totally perfect fit but it wont show.

Having looked at the 89 stock inserts they have much more sticking out at the top than Dave's do, a good cm or two more overang, so this is why gubbins (technical terminology) are slightly visible at the top.

Both areas that the carmad one can improve upon methinks !!

That truly is OCD mate!!

I don't know how you guys get away with playing with your cars all the time!!

True OCD would be the removal of those threaded bolts.......c'mon Lee if you're going to do a job, do it properly .

Ha!! At least you can spend time tinkering away. Keep the chin up matey!! There's days I'd love to be able to potter around the car doing bits but as its at the garage and I've the family to entertain it's a no go a lot of the time.

Ah mate, don't beat yourself up about it, it's not the end of the world:rockon:

Never mind the car parts !! That patio needs a good power washing !!

Put the fan assembly back together and the clutch part looked shite so I painted it too.

Ha! You have such a way with words!! You must be part Irish to have used that term!!

Some great work!:thumbup1:

Worth checking that the paint on the Viscous coupling has not made the shaft movement sticky.

Be careful though, the internal mechanism is very delicate.
