So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment.

Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that

I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32.

After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan.

So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report.

Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now then showing the

strip down and all the bad luck I've had.

So here she is as I bought her :

Who did the polishing for you Lee??

They all look like that when first done  he has done a great job Lee, keep on top of it though, but dont use autosol it will dull the shine, autosol is good for stainless steel, but not so good with polished ali. Use something like brilliant metal polish that is non abrasive or do some research :thumbup1:

Cheers Lee, I might just follow Groovers sticky and have a bash myself, if I f**k it up I can give them a call

I think you'll struggle to find the genuine rails for them!

Maybe better off buying some universal sliders and fabbing a set up using a welder and the mounting lugs off your existing seats, Lee.

Can someone tell me how these blasted 99 spec inserts fit properly ?

Everyone I hear says they fit perfect but mine are far from it.

It may just be me but there is a huge gap at the top and if you push them back then it just moves to the bottom.

I'm guessing I use some sort of apoxy glue or sikaflex to keep them moving too.

Any ideas ?

As you can see here you can see in the top of the glass and inside to the back end of the lights.

If you'd of sent them to me you wouldn't of had any bother, like Tom says !!

Whatever colour you do the inserts you need to spray the carcass edges the same as this then is more forgiving.

You then need to find the happy medium but get the front edge correct, the glass will go on and then as it squashes down goes back, then secure with some flexible silicone and clamp overnight,
