Last night, at about 3am, a couple of little b*****ds managed to get under my bonnet (after ruining the door handles on both doors in an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry) and mess with the engine. I am severely pissed!! So, if any of you guys are down the pub and you hear a couple of guys boasting about breaking into a red 300zx, give 'em a kicking from me will ya!

P.S. I passed a red 300zx in Enfield on Satuday. The guy driving waved to me. Don't suppose it was any of you lot??

What area are you in ? North London somewhere isn't it ?

 

What did they actually do to your engine ? Pull wires, cut hoses and stuff ?

 

Yep, I'm in North London. Quite a quiet, nice area. My Dad had his radio knicked a couple of years ago but apart from that, I've always though it to be very safe area.

 

The damage under the bonnet isn't much as far as I can tell (and I am certainly no mechanic!). All they seemed to do was to disconnect the live wire from the battery (I guess in the hope of stopping the alarm). The only other damage I saw was a loose cable tie! I managed to drive it without any problems to the dealer so I'm guessing not much damage to the engine. The main damage are the door handles. There are little digs around the plastic surround for the handle and some have scrathed the main door (very little though). The guy at the dealer said that it may need to go to the body shop, they couldn't tell without taking the trim off the door. I'm certainly looking at 200quid + for this.

 

Kinda kills my excitement about my number coming up yesterday to order my Empeg :-(

 

 

 

 

I've just heard from the dealer that the door skins are fine. All the car needs are two door handles (and the associated painting). Unfortunately, including VAT, each door handle works out to be about 250quid each!!! They want almost 600quid fully in.

 

Is it me or does this seem a tad excessive???

My Bonnet has an alarm switch on the leading edge.

 

Pull the lid and all hell breaks loose. Looks like a sensible addition to your setup.

I think I do have a bonnet switch like you. The alarm was going (which is what woke me up). In fact the alarm worked very well but I think I need to have one of those alarms that brings up an Uzi when the bonnet opens with the alarm blaring....

 

Hopefully be getting the car back tomorrow. Can't wait, this bank holiday was the most boring 3 days of my life!
