Ok so checked the resistance on pinout 44 which is the neutral switch on the ECU, getting 8.4 volts from reverse and drive But no voltage on neutral or park? Is this normal? Plus I also purchased a new battery. I'm starting to think that this is coincidence! So looking for a gearbox. Hopefully the chap on here will get back to me.

am I clutching at straws here? or could the problem be one of the following?

No voltage in neutral is normal, when selecting gear it will raise the revs slightly and advance the timing to 20deg so would require voltage to do that.

The sensor in the first link selects gear, so once drive is selected its down to the other parts of the box to do their bit.

Give Jeff another call to recap what you have done, there is bound to be something in his extensive zed brain that can be tested or has been missed, however if not, then it does look like you may need to change the box.

Hi mate I dont really like to disturb him as ive called a few times this month. Its got to be coincidence that the box has done this . But im still thinking it could be a connection as last time the sump was removed I recall checking a connection which when pushed in it clicked into place slightly. Or it could be where I unplugged a few connections under the bonnet to check for corrosion maybe I didn't plug one back in properly but I'll spend a few hours tomrow re checking everything. Grrrr this is so annoying its driving me mad. Hopefully kiemister I think will be able to work out a price for courier of the box he has for sale. I think lee dent has it.....

I bet you are frustrated as hell lol, good plan to go over all the connections once more, the plugs in the drivers wing behind the headlight is a good place to start :thumbup1:

electrical faults are not common with the autobox.more than lightly the box itself if im honest.Autos are rare now and most are at the end of their life.
