Hi everyone just having a small problem with my cig lighter, just been changing the rear wheel and plugged in the air compressor on the cig lighter to pump the spare one up and after about 5 mins the compressor has cut out, so checked it on the pulsar cig lighter and works fine but nothing works on the 300 cig lighter, the fuse is ok and ive changed it with a new one to make sure but still no power what else could have gone wrong. Is there another fuse somewhere.

cheers Tom

Sometimes the connection can become corroded or bent out of position. I had that prob. If not the connection under it may have popped off. Have you been working around there.

what??? The car is drivable I was out driving this morning.

DO you mean the connection on the bottom of cig lighter??

Just seems odd that the air comp was working then went dead and now no cig lighter as ive its blown a fuse???

Perhaps it got hot and popped out like a lighter should !

well nothing working at all on it, not even my inspection lamp with cig connector, sounds like ive melted a wire somewhere??

Have you checked for voltage with a meter?

First check the wires coming in and then go on to the socket terminals themselves.

Silly question, is voltage there permanent, or only with ignition key turned to auxilaries with these cars?

Out of curiosity I have just checked mine.

No power when keys are removed.

12 volts on first position on the key, clock, radio etc'

Damn! too slow again. lol

Here are the pages from the '96 FSM for the relevant sections for the cigarette lighter circuit. The '96 diagrams

are easier to follow than those published in earlier FSMs. The 20A fuse shown on EL-170 (fuse position 5 - kick

space fuse block) is shown incorrectly on EL-11 as going to the horn. The accessory fuse is on the reverse side

of the kick space fuse block. The "blue" fuse is in the fusible link holder in the engine bay o/s back of suspension

turret.

You can use the diagrams to trace back the fault to the battery.
