Hi,

I will soon be selling my ultra rare carbon fibre boot lid once the car returns from the garage within a week or so.

The boot is a lot lighter than stock and is also in great condition with no scratches/chips! or rust lol

I have recently had the rear screen fitted using brand new screen rubbers which are not cheap, the only down side is that 4 holes was drilled to originally bolt a spoiler to the boot.

These holes are around 4mm that I have now filled making it very hard to see.

When I fitted the boot I still wanted the use of the rear screen and brake light so I modified the boot so the OEM looms and cables can be fitted and used.

All that is needed to complete the boot lid is either a spoiler or Perspex strip.

These boots are only available from the states so as well as the price tag of the boot with shipping and import tax on top I can see why they are so rare in the U.K.

Im looking for around £650 ono. original price delivered with out the screen and rubbers was over £1000.

The boot is like new as my car build never got finished.

Pics to follow asap!

Stripping the car mate. Possibly will buy a stock swb or slick top for now to have a bit of fun with.

The pictures do not do this justice. When the sun is out the reflection off the weave is stunning.

It is a shame you're breaking that stunning car. I hope the answer isn't an unfortunate change of circumstances or anything and I don't mean to pry, but is it a case of it wasn't what you hoped it would be? Or that it was too powerful for the road or too harsh etc? Might help keep me and a few other members driving rather than breaking.

That in mind, I am interested in that boot lid. I probably will chicken out and not spend 600 quid on a boot lid but,

Do you know how much lighter it actually is

And is it loud or rattly or jn any other way a pain in the arse to live with?

Thank you.

Hello mate,

Im looking for a rolling shell and was wondering why you were breaking?is the body iunderneath in good condition or is it victim to rusty sills?

Thanks

Sav

When I fitted mine I did a weight comparison. It will be somewhere in one of my many build threads!!!

There is more to be saved by using Polycarb instead of glass but that is only for hard core track cars.

On a road car with glass fitted it will feel like an OEM one...and look brill.

Hi Sav

Some rust was found when I stripped the car for a bare metal re-spray at that time the rust was removed and repaired.

The underside of the car has been under sealed and waxed everywhere possible.

When will you need a rolling shell?

Thanks Dan

Thanks for the info Pete. The rear is a lot light than stock even with OEM glass installed!

I didn't notice any difference with sound to be honest.

When i installed the boot I installed all the original bump stops either side of the lid so the boot lid sat flat with no shaking or flexing!

Thanks Dan

I was just unfortunate to have had my engine built by a company that obviously didn't know what they was doing :(

My 7 year build has come to an end because the engine builder torqued up all the shells on my crank and rods double what they should of been causing my engine to fail.

Im now going to strip the car and buy a nice running example to enjoy!

Plenty of rare and nice parts will be for sale once I get round to it.

Thanks Dan

Hey dan,

Im not in any major rush to get the shell but i really need the underside of the body in tip top shape so i could swap the engine straight over with my interior. I want to make sure the bodys right and theres no potential risks, ive had bad experiences with bodywork and rust on sills and underneath the car so if i get something that is spot on then with my engine ill know ill have a keeper!

Thanks

Sav

Jeez dan only just noticed you're stripping Ted, that's terrible news that the engine problem has led to this :( however I hope you will swap a load of the goodies onto your next Z to enjoy!

Hey dan, did you want to email me direct so we can discuss further, email addy is dhanjal underscore savraj at hotmail dot com. I pretty much want the shell, the bonnet, bootlid, fenders and front bumper arent so much of an issue. Its more the main body and did want the subframe but i think i saw a post where u wanted to keep it, not massively important but if you were open to sell with the shell then i can see the cost difference and go from there.

Thanks

Sav

Hi Savio did you receive my email Saturday?

Bump on boot lid such a shame it doesn't fit my sub.

  • 4 years later...

sorry to drag up an old for sale thread but just wondering does anyone know who owns the boot lid now and whether they would be inclined to sell it or not? would finish off my project very nicely :)

I own one - just in the process of getting it refurbished but as it stands I’m not willing to sell lol it looks amazing but I know they’re very hard to come by, not sure how many Zeds in the UK have them so good luck in your search pal

I personally would not wanting to be losing weight from the rear of the car. Z32 needs as much help as possible to get traction.
