Prior to changing the display to series ll what was the ambient temp ( outside ) showing, by any chance was it a very high minus figure? if so points to outside temp sensor fault behind the bumper not plugged in.

I can't remember how, but if you press a certain 2 buttons in a certain way it puts the air con pod in to diagnosis mode in which you can scroll through the sensors and it tells you what they are reading. This includes the external sensor, I used to check that one all the time when I had my series 2 Z.

Sorry I can't remember how, sure someone will know...

anybody with series 2 aircon can you put in diagnostic mode and tell me what values it should read ??

rich

Just been out and mine read 15 with a dash under it and under that the demist symbol, pressing the fan buttons seem to go through various numbers and settings and pressing the auto button changes it all again.

I havent read the diag mode yet so dont know what it all means yet lol

Ok just read the diag mode and went out again and here are my numbers

15 press auto

49 press auto

0 press auto

50 press auto

I found pressing the fan buttons did something but i havent researched the meaning f that yet

Cheers I can't fathom why mines different

Rich, I get the same readings as groover's results above (on entry to diags - 15 with a dash under it and demist symbol). This

is without the engine started (should be running as per FSM diag instructions). I can't start the engine at the moment as I'm

servicing the car, but have you got the engine running?

No bud but if I put live power direct up the compressor it works fine

And the system pressure is correct

I tried it with the engine on today and on the second press of the auto button i hear the click of the compressor.

Have you checked the 3 aircon fuses 2 in the footwell and 1 in the engine bay and the relay?
