Hopefully some of the experienced members can help me,

Looking for advice on tyres for different forms of motorsport

It's the first time I've tried to build a car with a purpose, started after seeing Pete's na at japfest a few years back, now I'm turning my na into a "toy" for trackdays and occasionally trips to santa pod, Tbh it'll never see competition use but would still like to do it properly,

So would like to know what I should be closing, I've currently got a few sets of alloys 8 oe alloys, set of 370, and a set of 9j 18's, unfortunately the oe won't fit over the brakes I want but wanted the 370 for road / show, the 18's for track, but guess I'd best get another set for drag use

And that qualifies you for all the help and experience I can provide.

It is exactly my mantra is all things car related and in life too.

Do it once and do it right.

However as far as NA performance and tuning and use go there is no book to read and Wikipedia and Google dont help either.

So Iv had to experiment and not all the experiments have been successful first time round.

The latest example being my forged engine.............................

But lets keep the thread on topic.

As you are young and on a limited amount of disposable income Im going to propose a compromise for this year/season and then we can discuss a phase 2 program later.

The compromise involves just one set of tyres that will do both track sessions and drag runs competently but not ultimate ....without breaking the bank totally

I havent yet done the numbers on the final details but before I do give me a call on 07778 411568 or my landline 01773 761238 to get a brief overview.

Then we can post it up on this thread for discussion my proposal and see what input others with relevant experience (there are a few with real world as opposed to internet knowledge on the forum)

Just started doing mine, a bit at a time starting with getting rid of some weight. I've joined a local car club and am about to apply for my non race national b to enter into sprint compititions. Will also venture to the Pod to see how much I can improve on my auto's constant 16.6 secs

Good luck with the project :)

I compete in sprints with a national b. it is a lot of fun but I think I enjoy working on the car more....

I've done a couple of days at Curborough with Trackdaydrivers, com, not timed but I've joined Shenstone and District car club whose home track is Curborough with the intention of competing. Even though my Z's auto its still good fun.

I'm with Brighton and hove motor club (live in warwickshire!). I compete in the Brighton speed trials. Hopefully I'll be in the mid to low 12s but we will see. Best so far is 13.52 @ 108 over the line.

Watching eagerly as I'm in a similar boat, I need my license for work so I have to be extra careful. To that end it seems sensible to find a way to be able to have legal fun in my zed without crucifying the bank account. That's why I'm overhauling my chassis and breaking, to make the car as usable as possible and get the base right for the power hike when I can afford it. (Getting married next June so not this winter haha)

Track days, quarters and auto solo events are all on my wish list of things to try.

Hi Pete not really around for a few days, but will give a ring next week if it's alright? Is there a time that's best?

Brighton is down the road from me used to go and watch the trails, not competed yet maybe one day.

I always liked my zed, but until I did my first proper trackday last year I hadn't caught the bug, most fun I'd ever had in a car. And luckily for me I'm not far from brands hatch...
