Wee question for the experts out there. And its for the Ram, not a Zed.

Present exhaust system runs from each manifold, v8 obviously, and both downpipes run to the one silencer. Both pipes enter the silencer seperately.

Two pipes exit the silencer and run to the rear of the truck.

So, two pipes into the silencer, one silencer, two pipes exiting at the rear.

System in question is basically gubbed ! Replacement time !

Can get a system from the states, but it only has the one pipe entering the silencer, with two pipes exiting.

Flomaster silencer, all the pipes to the rear, brackets, clamps etc at a decent price delivered.

Here comes the question ?

Would it have any detrimental effect on the trucks performance, joining the front two sections of downpipe together with a "Y" piece and thus giving me one pipe entry into the replacement silencer ?

Cheers troops !

I had that set-up on my V8 rangie mate with no probs Alan...your Ram would sound really good iff you went to 4" from the single section of the Y right down to the silencer.
