Hi, i've got 3 exhausts, all go up to the cats and are fine, from there to the manifold pipes it gets a bit rusty and holy... what i need to know is whats available (in the UK ) to replace this section. i found this chunk of metal from the USA but was wondering who i go to in the UK (good references) to get something similar. Also do i keep the cats? if they go what is affected?. i know when i had it MOT'd the other day it fell outside the emissions test by 3 months, advice please.

Thanks

Rich

ps what is the sectional bulge where the cats used to be, silencer box? also do TT ones fit NA cars

The bulge is just a resonator to try and remove some of the drone that decats give.

IIRC TT are not not switchable with NA.

NA are 3 bolt, TT are 5 bolt.

I could be wrong though.

As a warning - The NA sounds bloody awful with decats. It's deafening, drones, and just all round bad.

Go to a custom exhaust place. They'll make you a set of High Flow Cats (Also known as HFC or Sports cat).

Some people like the decat sound though, so maybe best listening to some YouTube clips.

There's bound to be someone with a decatted NA at the Coventry 25th anniversary meet if you're attending that.

You can use NA decats on a TT but not the other way round. It's to do with the turbo elbows, stock TT elbows cone down at 90 degrees and mate to a flat flange, aftermarket TT turbo elbows come down longer and leave a 45 degree flange.

I agree to an extent than an NA is mega loud when decatted, the turbos actually quieten down a TT significantly esp off boost.
