There's no hiding the fact that football excites me about as much gout, but seriously, why in the name of Greek sodomy is 'the sacking of a football manager' the main story of the international news in the UK today?

They're still pulling dead bodies out of the sunken ferry in South Korea, Putin's potential to start WW3 and nuclear concerns in North Korea all took a back seat this morning and most of the day on BBC and ITV news to make way for 'the sacking of a football coach'. I mean seriously!?!? WTF? How can the sacking of an overpaid manager for being crap at his job in a grossly overpaid sport be important enough to come above that!?

Unfortunately, the millions of people in this country who watch/enjoy football far outweighs the amount of people who can probably find Korea/Ukraine etc on a map!

cant stand the game and thats a trick question as there both next to New Zealand

football is like religion, followed by millions, each have a better team or god than the other, arguments are caused over this, people are hurt and killed over it and i dont really care about either

I have to say though, as a avid United fan this WAS the biggest news I only wanted to hear everything else didn't matter. It was the best news this season.

Dear Mr Parsons

Thank you for contacting us regarding BBC News’ coverage of the sacking of David Moyes.

Please be assured we raised your concerns with the relevant editorial staff at BBC News who responded as follows:

“Manchester United is one of England’s biggest clubs with a global fan base of nearly 660 million people. This was a significant story given that the club had ended the season with its worst points total in Premier League history and a failure to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in two decades. It’s common to cover managerial changes at the top of big businesses and Manchester United had revenues last year of around 350 million pounds, with Moyes’ departure having an immediate impact on the stock exchange. As the story developed it was covered on various outlets alongside strong coverage of other ongoing stories including the situation in Ukraine, the NHS in England and Wales, and the death of a seven year old boy in Aberdeen.”

We appreciate your feedback on this matter and would like to assure you that we’ve also registered your concerns on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's made available to many BBC staff, including our news team and senior management.

The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.

Kind Regards

As I've said, it was a newsworthy article, but no way should it have been 'top story' with everything else that was going on in the world.

Or to put it in its correct context.

"ITV, Channel 4, 5, Sky news, sky sports news, [insert any other relevant news out let here] would of raked in their share of the 660million viewers and there was no way we were going to be out done by the likes of them, we do not need an even bigger excuse of lack of ratings to further the argument about if the BBC licence fee is worth it."

As I've said, it was a newsworthy article, but no way should it have been 'top story' with everything else that was going on in the world.

Brilliant Si - you wrote in and complained... I salute you sir....

Absolutely! I felt it was completely and utterly ridiculous. As I've said, sure, it's a worthy story, but to put it where it was was just unbelievable. It had me swearing at the TV in disbelief!

Si take a few of these fella over your complaint to aunty Beeb:bow::bow::bow:
