I have an original Compact Disc Player installed.

My problem is that it will not play an entire disc in one session.

It will manage to play 10 or 11 tracks of any given disc before faltering and eventually stopping altogether.

After that it will not respond to anything other than disc in and disc out.

The funny thing is, if I leave it and try again tomorrow it will do the same again!

Any ideas?

Overheating? Might just need a good clean of the circuit boards to remove fluff build up. Just a thought.

As above, I would suggest overheating.

If it's the original it probably hasn't been cleaned in years. Strip it out and give it a clean.

As you suggested, cleaned the thing inside and out but to no avail.

This time the unit only covered a couple of tracks before giving up the ghost.

Strange thing is, this is the second unit to develop this fault in the last 12 months!

Coincidence? or maybe related to a fault elsewhere?

Really fed up as I love the original look and am loathed to fit an after market one.
