Check the fuses again, for the horn, there is a relay and a fuse in the engine bay, id check those fuses too.

Put the car in 1 instead of D, can you then change gear to 2 while driving? and have reverse? i had the same issue and it was a fuse, but id changed the gearbox before figuring that out (i needed to change engine at the same time anyway)

Checked fuses they ok however unsure how to check relay. Yep can drive off in 1st change to second non problems yes reverse is ok cant believe that this has happened after a oil change theres me thinking I was doing something right!

The A/T is in it's middle position and the overdrive is off, do have a picture of how yours looks regarding the red indicator.

It won't let me post a picture for some reason!! Ffs well I can tell you that mine is in park but the red indicator is still on 2nd

This gearbox diagnostic procedure.... seeing as I cant get it to work I notice in the how to guide there are 10 faults that could cause a gearbox malfunction im wondering if the problem I have is one of those codes and hopefully not my gearbox.. but ive no way of testing this unless I go through every sensor fault

The only thing I can do is redo the oil change and see if I have maybe knocked something with the removal of the sump. . Fingers crossed its something simple :/

Could well be a sensor, but also i would take apart your shifter housing to see why the red indicator is at second when you are in park lol. The red indicator is supposed to be attached to the plastic sleeve that moves with the stick, its probably come off and stuck under gear two, this by the way is nothing to do with your problem, just given you something else to do lol.

update... so today I checked the TPS with a multimeter, tested ok. I guess ive a lot of other things to test to work out whats wrong with my autobox! very disappointed as last summer I was without my zed for the best part of 5 months! its not looking good for this summer either now ;(

Leroy, Hi Mate. i know how you feel man, got the same problem on my car, see my thread here Its still not fixed, tried 3 g/b ECU's, no help. i have a feeling there is something not quite right somewhere, but i cant put my finger on it. Everyone says sha**ed gearbox, but i dare not buy and fit another one because that nagging problem will still be there.. So instead sold my BMW (with gearbox problem) and bought a Zed

I'm interested in that post regarding the turbine speed sensor, with a name like that it implies a TT engine and Gearbox. what is yours NA or TT, mine is a NA engine with a TT box... Did you find that sensor, if so where is it.

Just remember , you're not alone....

Hi Richie yeah its a nightmare! Thing is it was fine after the oil change in fact it was changing a lot smoother ... I dont think its the gearbox either as after I done all this I sprayed the connections with electrical contact cleaner (ecu and everything else) I believe since then this is where the issue is. Although I have tried a gb ecu I still would like to try a main ecu as im pretty sure that some of the commands and that surely would go through the main ecu to the gearbox one? Another thing which made me wonder is when I sprayed the ecu connections I should have left it sit for a bit so it releases all its power if I had sprayed it while power was still there I may have shorted something out? Thats why I want to try a ecu then if that fails conzult then if no codes then I guess its the gearbox

"turbine speed sensor" relates to the speed of the internal parts of the gearbox, this is used along with the vehicle speed, gearbox temperature, tps and the engine ecu outputs to determine gear change pattern.

The engine ecu does have an effect on the gear change, if you fit a manual ecu to an auto the gearbox does not change correctly.

Hi Jeff,

Where is the turbine speed sensor located? revolution sensor? is it on top of the tranny? can only find pics online of what it looks like,. my rev counter still works , so could it still be this?

Cheers

Revolution sensor is passenger side high up towards the front of the box, this for the auto box ecu only, the dashboard rev counter gets it signal from the cas unit, the revolution sensor can be changed from the outside, its loom though is integral to the auto box loom so needs cutting in.

Its a shame the auto diagnostic will not work because that very sensor is part of the test, never really found out why some zeds are more reluctant than others to not communicate for test purposes, a real pain.

Thanks jeff. So i dont want to get confused with the speed sensor. Why is it I cant find this revolution sensor anywhere online? Just comes up with speed sensor only. My friend seems to think that it may be the revolution sensor what do you think? If it was my rwv counter wouldn't work no?
