Hi guys,

My attempts to get my zed on the road has been thwarted with another set back...

Horrendous knock from rear cylinder, rh side when looking at engine.

I reckon big end - question i have is it possible to replace these with engine in car?

Any advice when doing this?

Thanks!!

Advise aside about been best to pull the engine, in short yes it can be done in the car but extra attention is required to be sure the crank is in good order or it will be waste of time.

Support the engine from above, undo the engine mounts and steering rack and pipework, few clips here and there and then undo lower arms and remove the sub frame, total access to the sump from there on in, some will suggest just lowering the sub frame but removal gains you so much more viewable access for only slightly more dismantling.

Good luck.

As jeff said mate, a job which needs to be done right first time, patience with these cars is crucial! Remove engine mate, take your time and get it done right in one go, at least if its out and crank is scrap u haven't wasted time rolling on your back!

Good luck pal.
