Watch "300zx timing belt noise" on YouTube

300zx timing belt noise: http://youtu.be/LeeDj41ISbw

Hi all,

Can anyone help with this strange noise we are getting from the engine?

We have changed the Cam gears, Cambelt, all cambelt pulleys, Cambelt tensioner and CAS unit.

We also have run the car with no auxiliary belts.

It does get better when the engine warms up but never clears.

Wondering if it is the Oil pump but oil pressure is good.

Thanks Dan

I've seen this one as well but that sounds more like a bearing noise. It has a metallic rattle sound

Is it a genuine Nissan belt? does sounds like the belt is too tight.

Maybe worth checking the auto tensioner.

I understand that it can easily be incorrectly set without realising it.

We followed everything by the workshop manual and the tensioner was within the tolerances when we fitted it.

I'm thinking a possible air leak around the poor fitting z1 throttle bodies after watching a few more videos on YouTube. The throttle bodies are very poor quality I've had nothing but trouble with them.
