Hi guys, just been reading the different threads on this and the wiring and there is some amount of discussion over the past few years on this never mind which way to adjust the timing after its all done.

So as my mechanic is about to do this on my na 96 car, do I need to print off loads of threads about reseting the timing, get the ecu from the doner car, or get the manual loom.

Pin 44 seems to be an issue as well as its being connect to the neutral on the manual box then the other bit to earth, some haven't so getting a little confused. God help the guy as this is going to be fun getting her to run and idle correctly.

any clarification would be great.

Thanks

Just don't really like the reving and no control over it. some fuel being pumped through it and going to bit the bullet and get her converted, fix the cill and then I'll have a really nice car, even better than it is now. As you said, Fermanagh men aren't happy unless we are pulling it to bits lol

Was reading that particular one and have it printed off for the guy, so just pin 44 issue or change the ecu.

Cheers Gary. It will make the car I think. Plus then with all this work done, she becomes a keeper and can look forward to a nice easy life with me ( and the heated garage.)

Will stick up some photos of her later.

You won't regret it Derek, I did mine 3 months after buying it. Manual transforms the driving experience and helps massively when stopping the car being able to go down through the gears. Mine sounds awesome in 2nd on over run

Sounds like its going to make the difference in day and night. Sorry to the purists but this is defo the way ahead for me.

You basically have a timing of 15deg, when an auto is put into drive the timing changes to 25deg, so by pin 44 on the auto ecu is used in the manual conversion, so that when in neutral the timing is at 15deg and when you put it into gear the goes up to 25deg, you can get a manual ecu so you dont have to bother and correct some people dont bother anyway.

It doesnt affect the idle as it should be 15deg regardless, auto or manual in neutral.

The write ups in the tech section explain what you need to do or show your mechanic :thumbup1:

@ Derek how's it going, iam going converting my car shortly also, just wondering what garage your using as iam only up the road (Leitrim)

Hi Ciaranz, My mechanic who works for donnellys is doing it from home as his garage is nearly better then donnellys own workshop. He has a mate who builds rally cars for a living and hes helping him do the conversion. Approx 1-2 days for the both of them as this is their first one. Im hoping one day as does Ian, but better safe than sorry. I've just paid for the parts and arranged the courier to lift them tomorrow and they'll be here in Enniskillen on Friday. So the mechanic is lifting the car tonight so he may keep it and start pulling it to bits to get ready for a good days work at it on Saturday hopefully. Might even have a manual this day next week!!

Sounds like you've the rite bunch a lads at it so! See how it goes for ya, if ya wouldn't mind maby ask about getting mine converted too, I've all d bits ready to go. Let us know how ya get on neway

Hi Ciaranz no problem. they are keen to get it done thankfully. will let them know they may have another if the price is right and get us both a good deal

Good luck with the swap Derek.

I think I might go down this route myself and do the manual conversion, just need a kit to come up at the right price first!
