I was a well behaved kid so can't remember being grounded before but I was this morning by the medical centre. I crushed my hand on Monday helping a mate jack down his land rover. In the end it was only really my little finger that was damaged, I was carrying (fumbling and dropping if I am honest) a really dense breeze block when I walloped my right hand between it and a wall. I knew it was pretty bad immediately and instantly put a lot of indirect pressure on the finger base and put my hand over my head. Luckily me and my mate are medically trained SAR Boys so treated the wound to a high standard...

OR B!

Beamo ran and grabbed a tourniquet and some Loctite and I squeezed like hell on the bottom of the finger, the finger was cold and white and the end segment with the nail on it was like a squished grape. Tourniquet on Beamo gathered my 3 finger ends together and got stuck in (lol) with the Loctite. Now he told me it was left over veterinary glue from his dog at this point, Lies! Anyway this held and we left the tourniquet on for about 5 mins to let it set; now it hurt a lot anyway, like a stubbed toe or a kick in the balls, a sickening mega burning pain... then we slowly released the tourniquet . It hurt so much I threw up haha, but with the amount of banter I was getting from Beamo we were both bad laughing, as the blood returned the nail immediately went black and the finger went every colour and swelled up stressing out the superglue which barely held.

At this point much to Beamo's delight I went into shock, I was so disappointed I started being sick and felt really faint, I told him "Mate, I'm about to F***ing pass out!" laughing hard he was stood with a camera commentating "He is going... ooh he is on his knees!" I think this was supportive as it did help me to barely stay up through the laughter and was given something to bolster my strength...

This passed over 7 mins or so after which I kind of felt all right. So we carried on for an hour and a half and bled his brakes (no longer able to be trusted with bricks or tools at this point I was on light duties on the brake pedal). Then I set off home.

The mistake here was putting the heaters on in the car! This blew my finger end open to look like predator's face! I popped back to Beamo's place to borrow some glue and decided to go to hospital ( Stop the clock he has made the right decision) They burned a hole in my finger nail with a soldering iron and drained what must have been half of all the blood in my body then X rayed it. The finger end looks like a stamped on bag of crisps inside lol. So I am on antibiotics and as I left hospital was given 2 Ibuprofen haha.

It wasn't all bad as the Radiographer was gorgeous and I left a NHS thank you slip thing I found on her desk with my number on it (hasn't replied lol) and we went out for a curry but as I was on antibiotics and couldn't drink I drove the 3 of us in the zed lol.

So that was that, I am now grounded and have had to get cover for my next 2 shifts, so I have ordered a soldering iron, a hot glue gun and some LEDs from groover, that will give me something to do  I have pics of my finger, it doesn't look that bad really but perhaps my idea of bad is quite high. I'll not put them up unless people have a grim interest. I hope this was a laugh for you guys, It certainly has been for the lads at the Flight. To any brickies out there, RESPECT :thumbup1:

Go on then put a pic up, no good not being able to see the damage. If it's as bad as a patient cut in half by a train you will beat me, think that was my worst job!!! Or maybe a face half removed by a shotgun? .....lol.....:tt2:

I feel your pain mate having traped my digits a few times and like Ian I have treated a few horrific injuries in my time so a pic of a busted finger won't phase me. Great story Tom and lucky you had some good helpful friends around. Get well soon.:flowers:

It doesn't look that bad, this is just after we released the cable tie before I went all feeble.

I can't see it till tomorrow it has to be left alone to knit together, I hope it looks colourful because it bloody hurts :-)

One of the most cringe things I have seen is a totally broken in two humerus on a cute 25YO horse rider that caused full on compartment syndrome in her upper arm, looked like a swolen purple arm band.

Haha, thanks for the concern guys, its the first concern that has been shown to me!

It was like a Carry on film in Beamo's yard, "Carry on Sergeant" I spose

Thats fooking painful, i had a big speaker drop from the back of the van on to my big toe and i felt the same, sick lol, couldnt do anything to ease the pain for a good ten minutes and ended up losing my nail, so i can feel for you bud.

Whilst I am not squeamish, I do have OCD when it comes to the appearance of my hands - and hate even the slightest cut spoiling their appearance....

So I'd hate that!! But I wish you all the best for it swiftly healing matey...:flowers:

Yes i can take her for a test drive first to be sure, but luckily you have the important fingers still left to use for the bowling ball technique
