Advice please, bonnet wont open

Hi guys. My zed has been sitting for a while but now i need to get it running. I went to open the bonnet but the lever is not opening it, its just sliding in and out. Any ideas please?

    Yeah the cable wasnt broken but the bonnet catch just got stuck, once I jumped on the bonnet a few times it came loose. Ill oil it then it will be fine. Thanks for quick replies!

    Get some degreaer on the latch. I just had the same thing on my other car and now it's fine again :)

    Yeah I will have to do it tomorrow, couldnt get the bolt off the battery either so need to lubricate that too.
